Two nice bargains for me on Thursday the first one was a wool jumper dress in an arran type knit originally from next, £4.99. I'm imagining it with leggings boots and a scarf looking very cosy. I can't find similar on the website but I'm guessing would have cost about £40. The second purchase was a gel nail set thing with uv lamp etc all looks Unused. It will be added to her Christmas pile and for £10 I thought it was quite a good deal

    Hey! Congratulations Lucy. :T

Bought a pair of Prince of Wales check leggings (Dotty Perks) and a pair of TU grey/black leggings.
    £1.00 Air Ambulance.
Latter will be for slobbing in the house, former for going out (I think). Tried them on & they are great. As I have my sewing machine out I might just re-hem them shorter.
And I bought a Joules top for the shocking price of £5.00 :o.
    But....but... it's fab.
Pale bluey grey with pink and blue flowers on it.
Lovely studs with Joules logo on the sleeve cuffs & down the back.
The back is longer than the front, looks great with jeggings.
I probably need to wear sackcloth & ashes for a bit. :o
  • I forgot to check for B&H gifty sets (although I noticed that Tesco have B&H hampers, if you want to spend a lot of money on someone you don't like very much).

Got a bilingual picture dictionary for 50p from BHF.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

I have quite a lot of Joules which I've bought new when they are on sale and they wash and wear very well so it sounds like a good buy to me.

    This made me chuckle.

I had a wander around the six charity shops in the town nearest to me yesterday, but there was nothing brilliant. I suppose I have had more than my quota of chazzer luck this year so so shouldn't complain! I did think a lot of the prices were unreasonably high too - even well used slightly chipped cofffee mugs being priced at £2.99! No B&H sets in sight though :)

I did buy a lovely wooden nativity set for my daughter's primary school class for £4. It's very pretty, quite chunky and modern looking and painted with bright colours - but when I got it home and the unwrapped it I saw that the previous owner must have had something against shepherds as the paint on all three of their heads was badly chipped as though they had been beaten repeatedly against a wall. I'm sure with a bit of sandpaper and a touch of white gloss I can have them looking as good as new!

    Congratulations Lucy!
Dolly - the quality of mine seems good - I only wear them for a yoga class in the winter. I wear knee length in the warmer weather.
Did a trawl of the local CS on Friday looking for a dress and a top but nothing grabbed me. Out with a friend tomorrow so will have another go. I do have a plan B for the top - shop from my wardrobe!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Thanks. The pattern caught my eye and the fabric feels lovely.
It was from Oxfam and I spent ages in there.

A guy was looking at a crombie-style coat (Thomas Nash) and asked my opinion.
We examined the state of the lining at the armholes (clean & unmarked), checked the outside pockets - they were still stitched, looked at the back flap in case it was torn (it wasn't) and we decided it was very lightly worn.
It was creased and I suggested he try to steam it to see if the creases came out.
Then he found a Ben Sherman formal jacket in a lovely dark Prince of Wales check.
We went through the same process and he bought both.

In the Air Ambulance shop a woman was asking about various brand.
She knew Atmosphere = Primark but thought Principles = Matalan.
Me and a couple of other ladies put her straight: Papaya = Matalan and Soon is the posher range of Matalan and we had a general discussion about where brands fit into the market.
    Quite a jolly time.

    Just to comment on this:

Well after 16 whole days I have broken my no buy. I am weak and pathetic and it is all DH's fault.:rotfl:

    Yesterday I got

Next Everyday Skinny Jeans in extra long £3.99
    Next Tall Slim Jeans £3.99

Next grey and black nordic style snowflake jumper £3.99
Balance Me Rose Otto set with 3 items £2.99 brand new and all sealed
    Gap boys khaki gilet £2.99
    Autograph boys cardigan £1.49
    Mens Next slim jeans £4.49

Not especially cheap but all like new and will be worn lots.

I saw so many Bayliss & Harding sets yesterday I lost count and they were all more expensive than the Balance me set I got which is an expensive brand.
As you & others have posted about the difficulty of finding long jeans/leggings/trousers, I think you can be forgiven. :)

I think I must be alone in not noticing any B&H gift sets, I've got too much on finding bargains I want to buy and advising other shoppers. :rotfl:
