Have you tried the Oxfam at Dalston - excellent for clothes and books - rubbish for bric a brac!

Well back to my usual haunts today and had a bit of a rampage!

In Oxfam for £2.99 each a Uniglo and a Therapy checked shirt (I do like my checked shirts) and a loose knit Gap jumper. A lovely striped T shirt in St Vincent's for £2.50. In sense a pair of skinny jeans £4.50 and a beautiful compact mirror with Butterly and insect design £3.50 and then in Scope a lovely green appliqu!d Monsoon skirt £4.50 and three quarter length sleeve light green gap T shirt that goes brilliantly for £3.00.

Better have another break for a while!

Lucky you! All the tops (even rubbish labels) in my local Oxfam are priced at around £3.50/£3.99 - and I don't live in an affulent area.
Wonder where they get their pricing policy from?
    Normal people worry me.

All the clothes in this Oxfam are £2.99 a part from the odd designer label.

My general rule is a fiver tops for anything anyway - don't care what make something is - not prepared to pay more than that.

I think it's either the 55 or 56 to Dalston Toonie and the Scope and Sense on Mare Street are good - they even featured on the hoarders programme!:rotfl:

Thanks for the info on the buses, I shall plan my jaunts soon. Next weekend I'm off to Norfolk to visit my parents (Dad is going to be 60) and their local charity shops are great, but must remember I'm getting the train back!

I bought a lovely linen shirt for £3.30 in the BHF shop in town, it's so comfy.

  • I've been doing very well at not buying clothes and books in CSs. Spoiled it somewhat this weekend by buying two books in one day, although I was  at the prices- £2.50 per paperback! Luckily the lovely assistant decided that that was far too expensive and charged me £1 each :D

On Friday I found a huge bag of Meccano. I've mentioned above that I'd been collecting a few bits of this to put away for DS for when he's a bit older, and have a small amount already. This bag must weigh well over a kilo and was only £3 :j ........until I got to the till and found that it was a half price day, and I bought it for £1.50- would have been a bargain at £3 so I am exceedingly happy!

    Hi everyone!
Charity shops where I live in Beckenham (Kent) are fab - although the high street is overrun with them, which some people hate, but I love!
My best bargains have been a pair of Carvela shoes for £4.50 and a huge framed Dali print for £15
    Student loan £5655
