Got a 100% silk Banana Republic blouse in emerald green (my favourite colour) for £3.50.....and a copy of Riders by Jilly Coope for 50p, which I've never actually read (best encountered as a teenager, I'm sure). It's hilarious.

A Tripp suitcase, used once, for £7.50.

Retail about £150, unless you can get them in the sale.
I need to use my own lock though.

A lovely M&S long skirt from the Sally Army for £1.99.
It was in the sale items and, if someone had bothered to check, was itemised as a size 10...on checking the label this was wrong and was MINE ALL MINE.
    Normal people worry me.

I got a pitcher and basin, full size for £9.99 in a YMCA cs last week - I adore these types of things but although have a little one in bone china which i have one downstairs toilet window ledge and a middle size one on upstairs bathroom window ledge from cs that I also paid the same price for I have never seen a full size one anywhere for less than around £25. Its reproduction of a Victorian type and I adore it, its sitting in pride of place in living room filled with flowers I received on my birthday last week. We went to the cs on my birthday so it was my present to myself. I also picked up a Bodum cafeteria brand new ( I do have a few but they break so easily and at that price well worth having another in) and still all boxed up, one/two cup size for 69p and two mini fondue pots set into stands which has a space for tea light underneath, one in fact had a tea light in it, each of them 69p. I will use them as yankee candle tart burners. Oh yes a big 2 lt flask, brand new £1. We spent £17 but I think rest of the money went on hubby's books and cds as cannot remember buying anything else

Also found out a small town not far away has 7 cs in the centre so hoping maybe to pop there tomorrow
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

  • Do you all shop in wealthy areas? In our village we have 3 CS and I've never found anything decent in any of them. I keep going back thinking "one day I may find" but still nothing?!?
It's an average medium sized village.

Where am I going wrong? Is all the decent stuff small sizes, (size 16 at the mo. the kids section is terrible too!

Should I be heading to busy towns?

There is no right or wrong way to shop CS's. Keep visiting and go with an open mind. Having said that, the more CS in an area, the more likely you are to find a bargain. I would try different areas, you never know what you will find. Next Friday, my DH is working in Batley and I will go with him (to keep him company!) but he will drop me off in a large town nearby (haven't decided which town yet) do his stuff for work and then pick me up at the end of the day and I will CS to my hearts content.

I got a lovely bargain, a double bedspread cream crochetted throw. Not the usual woolie ones but done in a very thick thread, its beautiful and very heavy. Paid £15 for it and nearly didnt buy it but decided as it was perfect and unusual, go for it. Also a couple of paperbacks for 99p each and a home design book and a hand blown glass ball with hanger for £2.99 which I have put in my summerhouse and catches the light.

    Happy CS shopping everyone...

I'm certainly not in a wealthy area, although there are one or two nearby ;) Why not try looking in slightly more affluent areas, rather than busy towns.
