Art Deco saidThats the good thing about chazzas , with the money you save you dont feel quite as bad about having to buy from normal expensive shops occasionally!. Im attending a wedding night do on Thursday and just added up that my whole outfit including shoes and bag comes in at just under a tenner, makes up for the fact that Ive just found out its over £8 for a small glass of wine at the venue!
I attended a similar function like that but balked at paying the drinks prices, so I went prepared and ported in a bottle of my favourite tipple inside a gift bag. I had to spend 90p on some soda though.
If you think that's cheeky my colleague smuggled in her large clutch bag miniature bottles of some gin and tonic. Of course a G&T isn't complete without a wedge of lemon, which she also had wrapped in tin foil!:rotfl:Do not make any sudden moves.0 -

When I was a student, a friend of mine used to get through nightclub security. By putting Tia Maria in a washed out, cleaned hand pump hair spray bottle. The non pressurised type. To keep the cost of drinks down.0 -
I took a 3L wine box to a works Xmas party in a posh hotel once, disguised in gift wrapping paper.
I can still remember crouching on the floor, hidden by the tablecloth, dispensing it to people who were passing their glasses down to me :rotfl: .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

The brief bit of sunshine must have gone to my head this afty and I ended up buying a pair of Damart straight legged white jeans from the Community chazza! They had been lingering on the full price rail at £3.50 for a couple of weeks but I didn't take much notice as they were a size too big. Today they appeared on the half price rail so at £1.75 I had a closer look.....as new and lovely quality soft denim. Had plenty of time so I tried them on and they were not a bad fit....comfortable rather than skin tight! Roll on summer :dance:0

Miro - wen t into my local cancer CS - beautiful soft grey Calvin Klein dress for 12.99 - looked miss sized at an 8 - so thought I'd try it on (just to be certain you understand) I'm a good 12 and although I could do it up I looked like a sausage bursting out of its skin! Took it back to the till and alerted them that the size was nearer 10/12 and would potentially attract a buyer quicker!
That's my good deed done for the day lol as there was nothing else there that grabbed me although they did have some lovely stock,Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

It's weird that we are so careful with our cash day to day, but then suddenly it just disappears in one go...I got a round of drinks in last week and a glass of prosecco cost a £8. We would have been better off buying a couple of bottles at the start rather than one at a time. But at least it was a bar and I walked in knowing it was going to cost, rather than as an invited guest.
Hope it's a good wedding reception!
Dont worry I only intend to buy one drink to get the glass and will be using some of the ideas suggested to top up during the night , I just cant justify spending that much on booze Im used to going to We******oons and getting a pint and a meal for £6.:o0 -
Went and did the round of charity shops in my local high street. Bought two books then went and signed up (again) at the library. Took out one book and ordered another.
Wanted to look at the clothes but hubby kept getting bored within about two minutes of entering into each of the shops. Next time I will go alone.
Also got a body shop shower gel for £1.50.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Just back from a browse around an outdoor charity shop sale. My haul includes:
1 very large Eltex paraffin greenhouse heater
2 brand new boxed drip-feed plant watering systems for the greenhouse
1 large oval clear pyrex baking dish
1 large and 1 small clear pyrex glass mixing bowls
1 vintage pyrex casserole dish and lid, Chelsea pattern (we had this at home when I was a child!)
1 hardback book of cross stitch patterns of William Morris designs
1 hardback book of beautiful art nouveau cross stitch patterns
1 hardback book of cross stitch patterns for calligraphy alphabets
4 large hosta plants
2 brand new sets of thermal/blackout linings in exactly the right size for my bedroom windows. The current linings are quite old and have gone weirdly sticky - the blackout coating must be degrading or something - so I am very pleased to have found new ones.
Total spent : £16
Back home now for a lovely cup of tea0 -
Yep, my dress for a wedding next week was £5.00 and mis-sized as a 16 when, in reality it's at most a size 12/small size 14.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A.
