  • Welcome Nannylala, hope you find some good bargains and can boast about them on here!
Yesterday at BHF: Nicci French latest book (on my to-read list) £2
Thin cotton wrap around top "East" £2.99 (for my Menorcan holiday next week).
    Normal people worry me.

Himself found a bucket of mixed warhammer figures for £50.
Mostly unpainted & many "Name" figures eg Legolas from Lord of the Rings.
Checking the Games Workshop website he's already valued the figures at about £250 so far...
(Some amazing finds have me wondering if I need to boost my house insurance!)

However, today's visit was bitter/sweet as I found out that last Friday, during the sale period, someone had forced their way into the hospice office and intimidated and menaced the staff into handing over their phones and other stuff too. All very upsetting.
Disgraceful! I bet they targeted the chaz in the belief that CCTV is an unaffordable luxury. Keep us updated with any news of convictions etc.

Came away from the chaz earlier this week with a BN M&S surfing outfit (swimming costume, full size) in the cutest pink for the LO at £1.99. A little big atm but will be great for summer.

(And also another 7 books for myself :o).

Hope is not a strategy :D...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Evening all - dropped some stuff into my local CS this morning and noticed a nice blue checked shirt for DH on the rack as I was going out. It's a Sainsbugs TU, brand new in a nice peach feel fabric for £4.50 - pleased with that as I hav'n't seen much over the last few weeks.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I was like that the other day. I always have a look at the household/knick shelf, but it just couldn't be bothered to look through the clothing. It all seemed too crammed together like they'd try to ram too much out.

I've had a couple of weeks like this. A lot of it is because it seems all of the locals CS have added at least £2 on their normal selling prices. Making normal high street cheap clothes not a bargain at all. I saw a non remarkable Evans dress for £15!!! Wasn't worth more than £5 really.

funny you should say that,I went in my local age uk shop the other day and all the clothes even the tatty ones were over £4,their prices seem do have almost doubled recently.
They are not doing themseves any favours as I was the only one in the shop which is normally pretty busy.

Question about the large containers in car parks, the oxfam one in particular.

I have been having a clear out and have some clothes to donate to charity and have been waiting for a charity bag through the door for weeks now. Any other time I get one every other day, well it feels like it anyway.

Back to my question........ Is it still true that the large dump bins are just taken away and weighed for rags per kg of clothing rather than the clothes taken to a charity shop and organised for sale.

I'm just being lazy really as it would be a 5 minute walk to the oxfam dump bin verses a bus ride to several charity shops trips on my days off work. It would be a shame for good clothing just to be weighed in for any old rags or scrap material.

I can't really answer your question but speaking personally I always take my unwanted stuff directly to the charity shop of my choice (it's a local Hospice).
At least I know that it's got to the place I intended. :)
