A gorgeous Hermes scarf in blues which will double as the perfect dining table runner. It has a couple of little pulls which I can press out so got it for £4.95.

There are often several boxed sets of toiletries for just a pound or two, but they always seem to contain bath gel/foam etc. and I only use a shower. I did get a lovely box of Crabtree and Evelyn goodies for £3 - on sale online at over £30. £3 seemed a fair price for it really!

As others have said, you can use bath foam as shower gel, you just need a bit less!

Or use it as fancy hand wash in a pretty reusable pump bottle in the bathroom or kitchen. We were given a Molten Brown hand wash/lotion set 4 years ago but the wash ran out in a couple of months and the lotion is still going so I replaced the hand wash with a porcelain bottle with a metal pump (TK Maxx, £3 reduced from £7) and fill it with whatever left-over shower/bath stuff we have from Xmas sets.

I thought bubble bath was just that - bubbles. I didn't think it had any cleansing properties. However if you've all been using it to wash with then I stand corrected!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • Regarding the pricing of books, that's what puts me off buying books from British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research, as they have quite a high charge. I've seen paperbacks on sale for £2.25, when they are in quite average condition.

You'd think the penny would drop when they are left with the same books month after month.

Sodium laureth sulphate is the main detergent (washing agent) in most cosmetic products*, it's also the chemical that makes shower gel and bubble bath "foamy".

Same thing in a different bottle, in a different concentration with different perfumes and dyes.

A lot of the local CS in my area reduce the books to 25p when they have to many donated. I bought 8 Ian Rankin in excellent condition and will gift them back when I have finished.

EVERYTHING at the BHF costs a fortune! I never go into it anymore, our local independents are much more sensible pricing.

Maybe I could use them for handwashing delicates then?

Yep! Cotton or synthetic clothing definitely. Wash by hand only, don't put shower gel/bubble bath in your washing machine unless you want a kitchen full of bubbles!

Just don't use household detergents on silk or wool. There's a reason you get special washing liquids for those fabrics.
