We bought a new quite expensive cooker a couple of years ago, with double oven, top oven is also the grill.
The grill pan came without a handle-this had to be bought separately afterwards if needed (why???).
Anyway if grilling I just grab the grill pan with a towel or the oven gloves, and it's been perfectly okay for me.
On the other hand Hubby winges every time he uses it (it's not often-maybe twice a month!) and always says "buy a bl**dy handle"-but it just goes in one ear & out the other.

Walked into my local hospice shop today, and laying on the floor in front of me was a large (larger then mine) brand new grill pan, wire rack, and detachable HANDLE-superb quality.
Pounced on it, and it's heavy-well made, never used, probably cost about £40 +the handle only was going to set me back £20.

It was priced at £2 !!!!
Not sure if that was an error, but it was under my arm and out of the door in no time!

Thought it may be just too wide for my cooker....but no it fits perfectly-and it's great as it's wider than the original one-so I can grill up more food at the same time.

Well excited to show my bargain to hubby when he got in -no more winging!!

Just coming out of lurkdom re the Citizen watches. DH bought me mine (under instruction!) in Argos as they had an offer on. It's now at least 10 years old - I've never had a problem with it. The two tone strap is still perfect and as its waterproof its rarely off my wrist and I wear it sailing ( survived quite a few capsizes!) Would recommend to anyone. Bought DH one for his birthday as I was fed up with sending his away for battery replacement.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

    That was my suggestion.
I bought 4 from the same ebay seller - brand new with tags - the most expensive was £57.73, it was a current model and RRP was £179.00.
Then another from ebay which has a dual face, great for holidays - holiday time and UK time - for less than a tenner.
That was all 4 - 5 years ago, I think the other potential bidders must have been asleep at the time of the auction.

    Oh, I forgot to say......
You wait ages for a bargain and 2 come along at once. :rotfl:

Bought a lovely dark-beige-ish casual jacket (not sure of the make) for OH, slightly longer than bum length, lots of pockets amd a quilted zip out section for the body so it will do Spring, Summer & Autumn. £5.00 from Age Concern. It was on the ladies rail and I had to make sure the buttons were on the right side.

Then, in our local hospice shop, I bought a G Star Raw casual summer-weight jacket in dark khaki for £5.00 also for OH.

Both are in the washing machine as I type.

  • My find of the day; a brand new, sealed Molton Brown Pink Pepperpod cracker containing hand cream, body lotion and body wash. It's £20 online, got it for £3! I can never believe things like that haven't been nabbed as soon as they're put out!

    Well spotted!

I came out today having forgotten to put any handcream on, so popped into Age UK to see what they had in their toiletries basket. I picked up a M&S gift pack of Royal Jelly travel size tubes and bottles - body wash, hand wash, hand cream, body lotion, all for 99p!

But I'm not sure I'd like Royal Jelly, so I left it for someone else to find, and paid 49p for a small tube of "RITUALS" (never heard of it) rich nourishing body cream, which seems okay.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Our oven came without a handle for the grill pan too....for safety reasons apparently. I wish I'd been in your charity shop, I'd have jumped on that too, great find!
