Went to Hoylake on The Wirral for a change today. There's only three c/shops in the little town now, but they are all good.

Got a pair of Cushion Walk lightweight shoes in grey for £2, and a lovely blue Damart zip-up dressing gown/housecoat also £2. Finally for yet another £2 a nice pair of wrap-around mirrored sunglasses.

Then I spoilt it by falling for a metal double "towel hook" in the shape of two geese. I really don't need it but it was so cute it was worth the £1.60! Might put it beside the front door to keep keys on (out of reach from the letterbox of course!).
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • Found a new (to me) CS at the top of town. Small but well organised shop and we bought 4 items of clothing (all ex cond and branded) for £20. Definitely a few pounds cheaper than the others so worth the extra walk, plus DH was happy to go in (some of the others aren't quite so nice). I will try the hospice shop again, but they never seem to have the bargains I see on here.

Well done to all you CS shoppers, it keeps me looking for the bargains. :D

Something spooky is going on with me and charity shops. My Dd aged 11 has decided to bake a recipe off the great British bake off every week and its starting with Mary's walnut cake. Well at the cs there was a mary berry book with the recipe in for 60p she has also restarted riding lessons and needed riding clothes. Well in the second cs there were a pair of jodphurs in excellent condition just her size and £3.50 I looked at the ladies scarves as I remembered once reading on here how someone got a white company scarf sure enough the first scarf on the rail was a white company one. Fourth shop we went in had a lovely joules polo top which matched the jodphurs for £3.50.
This sort of thing seems to happen quite often does anyone else experience this?

This happens to me sometimes too.

I am currently trying to improve my Italian cookery skills. My husband and I went into town on Saturday and pottered around the charity shops. Whilst there I bought a few Italian cookery books. Browsing one of the books there was a really nice recipe for which I had all the ingredients at home. However, I needed a small casserole dish which I did not have. Went into the next shop and there was a two person, Pyrex casserole dish with lid.

Back home, washed the new dish, cooked the meal in the new dish and then ate the meal sat in the garden - really nice.

:jMy local BHF shop sell gorgeous fascinators, and I purchased a neat cream lace and feathers fascinator to wear with my new-to-me white lace dress, to my cousin's wedding this Saturday. Fascinator was a bargain at £2,99. My dress, I bought that a few weeks ago in the Mercy in Action shop for £6.50, so my wedding outfit is a real classy bargain x
    keep smiling,
