What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

My best ever bargain was a wool jacket for £1. In the pocket were 2 x£1 coins plus some silver ~ 80p.0

This week I found an almost new soft black jacket for £6. Great quality jackets in charity shops are hard to find in my area, and this was perfect for me. :money:
While abroad in the US I got into the habit of touring the Goodwill charity stores (wharehouses really). I mapped them out and would drive to maybe 8 or 9 in one run. Since coming back to the UK I thought why not do the same thing here? So I mapped out charity shops and made "runs" in different areas, with the shops located near to each other for an easy journey.
So far this method has paid off, and you get to know which shops are the better ones. I mark them off on the map so I can remember.
Is anyone else organised like this? I just find it fun really.0 -
Ive bought 2 t-shirts at £1.95 each and a sweatshirt for £2.50.
All looked brand new or hardly worn.0 -
I've got out of the charity shop habit since leaving the NHS - as I work normal hours and try to avoid shopping like the plague on weekends - but I really like your idea The Walker, it appeals to the logical, list writing part of my brain.
Plus I have quite a lot of stuff I'd like to donate. Does anyone know of charity shops that take material? I have loads of the stuff, including curtain material, but not enough time (or skill) to make things."We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" I did that in Edinburgh when I was there for a few months and I agree, it's fun! Edinburgh has an actual website with a map of where all of the charity shops in the city are and what type of items they sell - it's so handy!

Aberdeen (my hometown) is a bit small to need to map them out as each street of charity shops is only about a 10-15 min walk from the next. For anyone that wants to know, these are:
Union Street (mostly between Crown Street and Rose Street)
Chapel Street
Schoolhill (opposite the library up to the Chinese takeaway towards Rosemount)
George Street - word of warning, though, George Street is junkie and drunk central in the city so watch yourself when browsing the shops here, I have friends who have been attacked in broad daylight here and the shops are on high alert for shoplifters.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. For various reasons my cs shopping has been on hold recently. Hopefully I am now back at the reins! Yesterday my local Sue Ryder shop was having a half price sale and I got a pair of Per Una jeans (grey) for £2.50. I usually struggle to get a pair of jeans to fit right but these are perfect. Well pleased!
Today I am going to Otley and will visit my favourite cs of all time. St Gemma's, where all clothing, shoes and handbags are £1 - apart from clothes on the "designer" rack, which are individually priced and cd's, dvd's and books which are usually 2 for £1."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

I got over three metres of good quality cream sheeting from our Salvation army shop, they were offcuts but big enough to make a double backing to a quilt and cost the grand sum of 1.50. They're the only one in our area that does fabric as far as I know. When we called in a couple of weeks prior to that they had bags and bags of yarn which I resisted with a great deal of difficulty! Thankfully some other lucky soul will have made use of it rather than it sitting in my stash!
I hope this helps Maitane.0 -
I bought 2 M&S ladies' fleece tops for £4 each. Maybe not the cheapest but at least I know they will wash well.0

Trying to resist buying unnecessary items at the moment but today I got a new pair of plain silver cufflinks for £1 for OH as he broke his yesterday and mostly has non-button cuffed shirts for work, 30 plastic curtain hooks and a bag of large wooden curtain rings (about 20) for £2.50. Also got OH a new shoe polishing kit for £3.50.“I want to be a glow worm, A glow worm's never glum'Coz how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?" ~ Dr A. In Staffordshire for half term and visited Lichfield today. The charity shops tend to carry some nice stuff there so popped into a few. Got myself a nice Oasis 100% wool winter coat for £14.95 and a 100% lambs wool Bickler scarf for £4.50 so that's me sorted for winter for £20 :T
Still need some bits for dd but that will have to be Pri***k I think.0
