Hello everyone, so happy to have the time to go back to my new favourite shop today! I took two bags of donations with me as 'extra payment' towards my Jospeh bargain from last week
Today I picked up a lovely skirt by Silence & Noise (Urban Outfitters) for £3. £37 new and in as-new condition. I am so pleased, I love it.
Lots of great stuff left behind: a Ralph Lauren blazer, £8 (too tweedy for me), a black Coast skirt suit, £5 (I would never wear it) and a lovely spotted Boden dress, £6 (just not my style).
:T to all on this week's bargains!
I said you'd be good at this... you've already got to grips with the very first rule of c/shopping - it's only a bargain if you're going to get some use out of it! :T Took me several years to work that one out, and I still have lapses now!:rotfl:
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Hi charity shoppers. Well, we made it through our fundraising Thursday and are waiting for the official total to come in. I don't really care how we did against the other shops, the manageress and staff in our shop were so delighted with how the day went
The shop was massively busy almost all day, and we left them with more bags of stock that we didn't even get to unpack into the shop. It'll keep them going a wee while.
The sale rail wasn't as popular as I thought it would be (but it did shift a fair bit of stock), nor were the children's clothes (of which we had loads of really nice ones). The most popular items were ladies' tops and dresses, and the bric-a-brac.
I was impressed with both the clothing we got donated and the stock the shop had: loads of nice brands at decent prices. Lucky for me it was as busy as it was or I'd have probably bought things and undid the good of my declutter.
All-in-all it was an interesting day, seeing the other side of a charity shop from the storeroom stuff to how much a part of the community the shop was. If you get the chance to take part in something like this I'd recommend it.
Thanks to you lot for all the helpful hints you gave me in the run-up to the day :-)0 -
A nice bargain for me on Saturday in Sue Ryder.Been looking for some new walking boots as had sold mine as they gave me cramp in my toes
Brand new Timberland Red leather walking boots for £15 a bit more than I would normally pay in a charity shop but they are still for sale at £145  So cant complain really
So comfy and look so nice as well I am very very happy

11 books which complete a set I'd read only the first of, found the other 11 today at 4 for £2. Because the first one was missing (which I've read anyway) they let me have the whole lot for £3! :-)0

haven't had a charity shop bargain for a while but several years ago I bought a brand new Puffa moleskin jacket for myself from a normal shop and I paid £130+ . A few weeks later I got one for my hubby for £7.50 in a charity shop and it was brand new and I actually found the receipt in the inside pocket!:j0

Huge disappointment today when I found out my local Barnardos has been transformed from a grotty £1.99 shop to something akin to D*rothy P*rkins
with prices to match.
Saved money by not buying anything!0 -
Snaffled a few more bargains.....:j
Lightweight fleece in a rather gross shade of baby pink but will be nice and warm for 'house wear'....50p
B/N bottle of nail polish that's supposed to have flecks of real gold in it...also 50p
My star buy.....a beautifully made Karen Millen camisole in brown pure silk with wonderful gold embroidery and teeny tiny pintucks...had been £3.50 but reduced to £1.750 -
Scored today with a really pretty M&S ladies fitted shirt for a pound and a fab Prim*rk denim pinafore dress which was £2.49 :j
Broke a golden rule about not buying cheap Prim*rk tat from a charity shop, but the pinafore is really good quality, I was surprised to see the label!
Also, I managed to get OH an Irish RFU top for just £3, he was thrilled!0 -
Oh my word... I've just gone through a pile of clothes I picked up for 20p each at a charity jumble sale at the weekend. I knew I had some good bargains in there, but it was the mid-brown jacket I picked up towards the end as a possible rain-jacket for myself that made my jaw drop when I took a closer look - it's a Barbour! In very good nick, and fits me like a glove. I'd been looking for one for ages but couldn't justify the £60-odd they generally seem to go for secondhand down here; I saw one in terrible condition for £75 in a charity shop last year. It even still has its hood, though I shall generally wear it with a very battered hat complete with pheasant feather from one of our roadkilled dinners.
So I'm a very happy bunny this evening! 20p very well spent... I shall donate a bit extra to the charity concerned, which is one dear to my heart. If only we had more jumble sales...Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
