What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

I trawled the many charity shops in Worthing at the weekend. I found lots of shells and a shell necklace (all for my shellcrafting). I also found some children's books:
1970s Topsy & Tim book (for one of my nephews): 20p
1970s Heidi Grows Up book (for my sister): 60p
2 x Little Workmates books (for one of my nieces): 50p
Sweet Valley Twins book (for one of my nieces): 99p
The Shelter shop there also had a great range of pocket money toys that would be perfect for party bags or stocking fillers. I bought a few bits for party bags.'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain'0 -
Found a lovely unworn lambswool crewneck jumper for £2.99 at Barnardo's.
It's in a gold/mustard shade and is a twin of one I already have in cherry red, bought by my husband as a birthday gift at M&S quite a few years ago now.
The donor must have hung it in their wardrobe and left it - it has not been worn at all. The autumnal shade will look nice at this time of year, so a bargain for little old me!0 -

I need to know more about this!
I've heard about putting woollies in the freezer to kill moth eggs but not shoes. I have been known to wash casual shoes in Dreft and pack with newspaper and that always cleans/freshens them up nicely.
I don't really know why I put them in the freezer :rotfl: I always
do if I buy ds second hand shoes, his shoes are only small so they go in a zip lock bag in the freezer for a day or two. I think its because I don't like the thought of any germs that could be on them, the freezing kills everything! I did the same with any soft toys I brought him when he was younger that couldn't be washed.0 -
I found quite a pushchair in the charity shop yesterday for £5, buying it only because it had a 'buggy board' attached to the back that I could attach to our large buggy. The frame is good but the fabric was very mucky so I planned to send it to the tip and just keep the board.
Anyway, I realised with a bit of effort and a screwdriver I could remove the fabric seat and put it through the wash. So we now have a nice new to us buggy with a buggy board. It folds up smaller than our other one too, so win win!0 -
i was looking for some harry potter books yesterday as something todo on my lunch hour, and get me out the office. in a cancer charity shop that charges more for what the original shop price was - dont know how this one is still trading in a prominent part of town doing that... anyways... i spied a juicer, and it had a tag of £4 on it, ive been looking for a juicer for at work and its at a bargin price! totally shocked. and scrounged in the bottom of my bag til i found £4 and ran back to the office to get it all cleaned up.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Last night my daughter was scouring the internet for some MBT trainers (expensive tone up trainers with wobbly soles to make you walk correctly) She wanted them for work after back surgery as lots of colleagues have them and swear by them. I went to my local charity shop this morning and found a pair for £4. They are like New and retail at anything from £100- £160. It's odd and slightly unerving how often the very thing I've been looking for just turns up as if it's just been waiting for me lol.0

Yeah, sometimes it's just meant to be. my daughter is a Moshi Monster fan and she has wanted a particular character in a soft toy, but they were too expensive...on one CS trip she found one and it had her name written on the label quite literally! Whoever had donated it must have taken it to school and had their name written on the label, and they had the same name as my DD!!! It's not an especially common name either! Now THAT was spooky!PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

Hi all
I'm going to sit down and have a good catch up of this thread seeing as my 7 month DS is sleeping, haven't had chance to get on here lately.
Went shopping this lunchtime and couldnt resist a couple of things from the charity shops.
*Topshop Green Tartan Shirt £2.59
*Brand New With Tags Warehouse Yellow Floral Dress (label attatched said £40 :O) £3.99
*Topshop Muliti Coloured Pencil Skirt £2.99
I saw lots of other things i'd have liked today, but lack of funds at the moment. Nearly picked up some beautiful (looked handmade) owl cushions for £2.59. Seen similar designs currently in the shops i've been eyeing up. Topshop Sailor Dress £2.99 and River Island Cat Print Top £2.50. I'll go back next week and hope they're all still there. Always the way when i'm poor i see lots of things i want to buy.
Off to read about everyones bargains now!
