A good day in the local CSs yesterday -

    - a vintage (1950's) black leather Kelly bag, with a red leather lining, one handle repaired with the wrong colour of thread, but that's fixable -£1.99

    - River Cottage Two cookbook, never used in anger (or in a kitchen, from the condition) - 99p

    - Saks Fifth Avenue tote bag, M & S printed cord skirt, and a lime green with overlay in green, grey and black French dressy dress -£7.00

    - Nice well-framed watercolour of a garden - £4.00

    - and finally, a grey cashmere jumper for £2.00, a Jones New York royal blue cashmere jumper for £2.50 (a colour I've been hunting for a long time), and the pride of the collection - a grey patterned, textured, shaped Missoni jumper for £2.50!

Wow, where do you charity shop?!

My highstreet has no less than 8 charity shops, but some of them are getting very silly with their prices (£5 for out of shape Primark t-shirt etc. and selling all the nice stuff on ebay) some I don't even bother going in anymore.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

  • I had a good haul yesterday- a gorgeous Limited Collection M&S dress which I may well wear to my sister's wedding next month (£4.99), a pair of GAP chinos which look new (£2) and a pair of trousers for my little boy which look new too (£1.50). I nearly bought a Fenn Wright Manson skirt for £4.99 too, and wish I had now. It was gorgeous.

Overspent again! this time a lovely powder blue Fenn Wright Mason 3/4 coat, bit like a duffle but without a hood. £19.95. Looks unworn. OH insists I start wearing my bargains soon but it's still too warm. Oh and a lovely blue swirly/flowery scarf to go with it £2.95.
    Slightly bitter
  • I absolutely love love love this thread. I like nothing more than to have a good rummage in my local charity shops, but my youngest DD is only two so I don't get to do it often. She was at preschool this morning so I made good use of my three hours. I got her a cute little dolly cot to put away for her third birthday in December for £3.95. It needs a good clean, and I might recover the base and make some matching blankets and pillows. Got the eldest DD three Jacqueline Wilson books for £1.50, perfect for her to take to Brownie camp this weekend. Also got DD1 a new pink desk chair for a fiver, I'd been looking at the same one in a local shop for £27 recently.

Hopefully I'll be finding more bargains now DD3 is in preschool twice a week. There's no better feeling than bagging a bargain AND doing your bit for charity too

Today I got a lovely Hobbs quilted jacket, looks brand new, for less than £10. It is size 16 and it does fit but I think it would look better if I lost a pound or two, to be honest. I couldn't let it go as, if I decide it's not for me, I am sure my daughter will grab it.
