I don't understand why some people refuse to shop in CS. What's the difference between something that someone else has worn and washed and the clothes you own, wash and wear everyday?

Then again I refuse to pay more than I need to for things. I don't see why I should pay £60 for a new dress when I can get one for £15 that has barely been worn, especially occasionwear. My high school prom dress was gorgeous and it cost me more to get it altered than to buy because I bought it in a nearly new sale and it was a size too big.

    Ooh I got heaps today!

*4 vintage coca cola glasses (better than the McDonalds freebies, have a diamond shape with Spanish writing embossed on) for £3.50
    * a new necklace and earring Swarovski crystal/gold metal set for £5.50 (RRP £45)
    * a blue mini crystal necklace for £2.50 (RRP £12)
    * a mini gift box with multicoloured and blue glitter jellybean pattern for 55p (RRP £2.50)
    * a toy story 3 single duvet cover and pillow case for £2.50 (rrp £10 cheaper than buying fat quarters of fabric, didn't realise it was ts3 until I looked closely at the background pattern and it's Lotso the Bear!)
    * a wooden "tie rack" tie hanger for £1 (RRP £12.99)
    * a Starbucks "London" mug for £2 (RRP £9-12 ebay)
    * a brand new men's wash bag (mod style brown with red/white diagonal stripe) for £1
    * a nautical blue and white stripe lightweight scarf (very soft muslin) for £2.50 (RRP £10)

Another item worthy of note, I found a mulberry satchel-style blue handbag for £6.50. I vaguely recognised the brand so I just googled it - they're worth hundreds£££!! I'm so going back tomorrow to get it if it's still there!

I rarely buy fat quarters anymore. It's cheaper to buy new men's cotton pj bottoms than the quarters! Now I look at used pjs and nurses scrub tops. The scrub tops are bright, patterned, strong wearing but washed enough so that they are soft but still strong enough to use in quilts. PM me if you want to swap some fabric, but then the postage may be expensive, but I do know Canada Post is cheaper if you can fit it in an envelope!

Went shopping for a dress...came home with 2 pairs of shorts and no dress :o

One pair, New Look, £2.75. The other pair was Primark, which I wouldn't usually buy but I really really liked them, £2.50.

I have my lovely hubby to thank for today's bargain.

£300-odd worth of brand new lovely Skeppshult, Swedish cast iron cookware.

    This oval casserole dish

    This big oven tray

    This smaller oven tray

All brand new and boxed. He paid £35 for the lot. Quite a lot for a charity shop purchase but I am delighted.

Just been reading about all your wonderful finds. I don't have anything to add but you've all encouraged me to look in charity shops more. So I may have something to add one day soon, thank you!

  • Tried to re-donate the beautiful but too-tight Laura Ashley dress that I bought for £1 back to Age Concern but the lady insisted that I swop it for something else

    Everything is still a £1 :D

I spent £2 and bought a new Slazenger polo necked golf top, a "like new" cotton/linen short sleeved blouse and a 100% cotton long sleeved blouse embroidered with bees (sounds naff but its very delicate & pretty)
