Lovely trio of red and white spotted cake tins for £1. DS also got some toy cars, all decent and new-ish, for 10p or 20p a pop today, one was a match-box one, and another a kind our local shop sells for £2.99!

  • Hiya gurls, well I havent been on for a while as it has been like emergency ward 10 round here!!!! But I have managed to sneak out to charity shops when I get the chance. My brilliant bargains this week were:
A Chinese lantern [a fabric one so it can go in my bedroom] for £1.99
Some cute ornaments which came to about £5.00 in total
Lots and lots of clothes as there is a charity shop closing down for a pound a peice
A work bag for a pound.
Various homewares for an average of 50p an item.
Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

Two lovely blouses in the window of my local Age UK shop, but it's shut today.

Fingers crossed (a) they are my size & (b) they are still there when I finish work tomorrow.

Hooray! They were still there & in my size! Two new blouses for £7.50! And, one is Marc Aurel, so about £65-£75 new!

    Lucky, lucky Seabright!

It's the thrill of the chase. I know the feeling when I passed over that lovely Boden cardi and went back for it several days later and it was still there. Phew!

I might pop out tomorrow and see what's what locally. I haven't been out looking at anything for about a week and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. There's a CS not far away which sells all fabrics at 50 pence a meter. It's about now that I really wish I had some half-decent needlework skills. The beauty of some of them *sigh*

Do tell where this CS is please. I may be able to visit when I stay with a family member in London.

It's Islamic Relief on Hoe Street in Walthamstow, about a ten minute walk from the tube station/bus garage. If you're up this way the SA Thrift Shop is a few minutes away from IR on Forest Road and is most definitely worth a poke about for all sorts of lovely treasures, plus there are another four or five CS on the High Street. The Oxfam one is particularly good: clothing appears to have a flat charge regardless of quality or condition. Lovely coats for £7.99, designer ones if you're lucky like me

Congrats Seabright on the blouses. I got two more CS bargains yesterday (during a rare day off work).

Firstly DD (after a growth spurt) was upset that her denim shorts a bit too tight now. I looked in a couple of shops then got bored so went into one of the local CS and asked if they had any. They went upstairs and came down with two perfect size bnwt pairs and gave me both for £3.

Then..I bought a suit for work for £2. It fits like it was made for me and is extremely good quality so I googled the brand. Its Slater Womenswear and the jacket is still on their website for £75 and the skirt for £49.

Popped into the local air ambulance CS today...
    Boden Jumper £3 :j
    Dorothy perkins cardi £2.50
Debenhams Coat £10 (in my favourite colour and brand new!)

also spotted a laura ashley dress lurking in the back for £7... maybe next week if it's still there!!
  • Love this thread and thanks for all your inspirations. Today i made my first clothing CS purchase. A green silk lined cardigan from monsoon at £2.99 from british red cross shop. Thrilled. Also we have a Help the Aged shop which had a notice in the window saying everything was a £1!! Great way to turnaround stock I guess too.

My tip is to be on alert if you find something like my cardigan from monsoon in your size is to scour the shop as there is probably more in your size from the same label. I also found a monsoon dress and skirt but they were just not my colours so have left for some other lucky lady.

    Xx
