I didn't think I'd find anything, being a plus size and pregnant but I was surprised. I'll be going back next week for another look

    be careful Gilly...it's addictive! :D

I'm plus size (but not pregnant ), and lately have found some amazing bargains in my 2 favourite CS's. Have been so lucky...

A very pretty, multi-strand beaded necklace in shades of purple and pink, long, with little crystal beads every so often. Perfect for a little extra for my Mum's birthday to go with a skirt and vest top I bought her (full price, sadly) but the necklace was only a £1.

I bought my Oh a pair of Ecco tracker shoes today for £8.50 - they retail at £135 & they were unworn just dusty!! How lucky was that?
I often trawl the charities and leave empty handed that's what I love .... the anticipation!

  • Charity shop bargins are still out there but becoming increasingly hard to find!! a combination of manyt things causing it i think. Some prices i have seen are quite frankly crazy! (ie 90% of RRP or on occasions more for a second hand item!)

I picked up 4 deck solar patio lights for £1.50 today, brand new never been opened, not actually got a deck put going to put them along the path, been wanting more solar lights as only have a few as many have given up the ghost. Even though they were only out for about 4 hrs before it became dark they all light up slightly tonight, so very happy.

  • My bargain that I have got from charity shops in the past 2 weeks are a bag full of tops and vests for my 1yr old neice and all in good condition and my best bargain of all is a Baby Annabel 4th Generation so in theory about a year old for £2.50 she did not come with accessories but a call to Zaph Creation and for £5 the accessories are coming in the post today :j
I live in a fairly affluent area of the cotswolds so our charity shops quite often have some bargains and really nice things
Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most
£2,960 in debt to RBS paying off at £10 a Fortnight
  • Ive had a few bargains lately. A looks like new Gap top for £4, a new Laura Ashely vest top £3 (retails at about £26!!), hardly worn wool Next coat for DD next winter £2.50, brand new with £18 price tag on M & S jamas for OH £2.99 and OH got a suit from Burton in his exact size for £10. All from different shops and towns. I have a chaz shop radar and always find one wherever Im wandering.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

Catching up with this thread yesterday gave me CS withdrawal symptoms so a friend and I headed into town today ans I'm so glad we did!

I got a lovely yellow 60s style summer dress for £2.99, a Fat Face dress for £6 but the crowning glory was a brand new with tags silk Kookai dress for £6.95! and it's just perfect for a wedding I'm going to in August. I even got it home to discover that I have a matching wrap and fascinator (I have a fascinator fetish - if I ever see one cheap I snap it up and stash it away) so I just need to find some shoes and a bag and I'm good to go!

I never seem to find any bargains. I keep looking at trousers, but i'm 5ft 2, and all the ones in charity shops seem to be massively long!.

I would never let a par of too-long trouser put me off buying if everything else suits. My local dry-cleaners can take them up for me for a couple of quid if I'm too bone-idle to do it myself. Still, this isn't necessarily something I am personally familiar with as I'm a lot taller than you.

I also think, if you want a bargain, you have to go to the shop in the morning, when they have put new items out. Then again you could go in 5 mins from closing and find the thing you have been looking for, for ages!.

In the charity shops I'm familiar with (and believe me, I"m VERY familiar with them indeed) the volunteers appear to be putting things out all day, rather than first thing in the morning. Mind you, perhaps different shops do different things. I'm not backwards in coming forwards, so I don't have a problem with asking them to keep their eyes peeled for a particular thing if I'm keen to get my hands on something. Most of the people I've talked to have been lovely and only too keen to help. Especially if you make your polite request with a bag of stuff to donate in your hands......
