Hi- must be half asleep as I should have googled it! Came back to the site to say so and you`d already posted. You`re in luck - I work on Saturdays so will leave you free to hunt! Thanks for your help.:)
  • I was joking. I'm not going anywhere near Oxford Circus, especially on a Saturday. Tomorrow I shall be investigating pastures new in Crouch End.

You are all very lucky with your charity shop bargains, I was inspired by this thread to have a look round a few myself but there were no bargains to be had I'm afraid, everything was really overpriced, I bought just books in the end!

Instead, I've found that putting my limited hand sewing skills to good use is paying off no ends, eg in BHS I bought a sweet little summer camisole top that should have been £18 for £1 (!) because one strap was broken - a very simple repair. Then I picked up this

BEAUTIFUL Warehouse dress which had a price tag of £65 for just £10 because the lace was torn, it took me all of ten minutes to repair. I'd encourage anyone with any form of sewing skills to hunt for bargains like this - sometimes it's even fun to camouflage a hole, stain or tear with a brooch, motif or other embellishment to customise an item of clothing and make it truly unique!

I haven't been to any charity shops this week but I did have a bit of success.

I couple of months ago I bought a lovely little shrug cardigan for £1.50 from the local childrens hospice shop.

I've only worn it a couple of times because I don't actually have many clothes that it goes well with. I wore it on Friday for the second time (I was planning to take it back to a charity shop on the weekend) but one of my friends loved it so much we did a swap and she gave me a gorgeous handbag!

Wow, well done building with lego! I bet he is! Is it the one with the cannons poking through the side? & tiny cannon balls that can really be shot out of the cannons:j That brings back VERY happy memories for me.

My boy LOVED his Playmobil, had the castle, pirate ship, little men, knights, pirates etc. etc. Have kept it all (and his lovely Brio tracks & trains).

Awww, made me all misty eyed that has. My boy is 18 very soon, time flies so quickly. Hope your DS enjoys it, & hope you enjoy it with him.

It's more modern than that- one of the recent 'super- packs'- but it does have a cannon! :j The shark is missing though  which he's cross about but it fits rather nicely with the other piratey stuff we have, currently has two hammocks strung between the mast and pointy- bit- at- the- front.

I already have a large box of all the lovely wooden baby toys in the loft- our Lego, Playmobil and Brio will join it in the future, ready for the grandchildren. (I'm 33 years old, why am I thinking like this? :rotfl:)
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

    Great idea! ;)

I am currently on the lookout for a big pan to use for preserving!

Hi there, just browsing the oldstyle thread and noticed this, I've got a copper jelly pan, the old fashioned type which might be useful to you which I no longer use.

You are more than welcome to it, and perhaps Royal Mail could assist if necessary. ;)
  • Got lots and lots of goodies, plus there was a dogs trust Fair yesterday so we went there. Got a lush mirror for £5. I have seen this for £50 in Laura Ashley. So I was well happy. Got a couple of peruna tops for a pound each and some m and S trousers to. But I only found out yesterday that my favourite charity shop is closing because it hasnt taken off. And they would rather be at some snobby town were they will pay £8.00 for a skirt! I dont think so.
Ohh my mum got a tomy game from the 80's for 20p abnd sold it today at the carboot sale that she likes to do for £12.50!!!! They are supposed to go for £40 on ebay. But she doesnt like ebay. She just wants to know what the young lad sells it for. Ohh I did get two full outfits for £13.00.
Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

Only one mini-tour of my regular haunts earlier in the week in the hunt for the elusive tea-set.

No tea-set & no other purchases & no other visits for the rest of the week but as I said I don't really need anything at the moment.

So, no CS bargain of the week but have still really enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Suppose that really is the ultimate MSE pastime -vicarious CS shopping!

Thanks to all who've posted. Will post again when anything interesting to report. x

Been looking for a nice pair of jeans recently but I find it hard to find ones that fit well. Hit the jackpot this afternoon at a St Peter's Hospice shop - found a pair that fit nicely, are the right length and in good condition - a bargain at £4! Very happy bunny here :j

You were lucky, I find St Peters Hospice expensive usually but they do reduce items when they've been out for a while and the kids stuff is priced well. I bought my 11 y/o daughter some white skinny jeans in St Peters Hospice this week that look like they've never been worn for £1.50.
