You're welcome.
I posted the following on the Shabby Chic thread when I first joined as my friend had just started sewing & knitting again & she passed on these tips:
Anyway, to the point! A friend of mine recently started knitting & sewing again since she retired & I thought I'd pass on this handy hint for fabric/material to you all. Friend recently acquired, think for £1, some sample swatches (you know those little pieces hung up on a tiny coat hanger) from a curtain making shop & turned them into a LOVELY cushion cover. Because all the swatches were the same material but in different colours it looked really nice, kind of like a patchwork.
I would never have even thought of this as a supply for material/fabric but it could work well, especially if you get the larger swatches which would maybe be big enough for a seat cover???
Maybe could also try upholsterers too, they maybe have sample swatches???
Also got me thinking, wonder if I could be cheeky enough to ask at the wallpaper shop to see what they do with their old sample books & could possibly use for drawer liners (thought could pop a few drops of favourite scent on them before putting in drawer so clothes smell nice). Was in wallpaper shop browsing for some paper for my bedroom & saw just what I wanted... VERY beautiful, VERY classy, VERY sparkly... didn't get it was £90 (yes, NINETY POUNDS) a roll! Toyed with the idea of just getting one roll for the wall behind the bed but Dad said he wouldn't dare hang it at that price!
Sorry for rambling on, not sure if there is a limited to length of posts? Just thought I'd share the idea.

Called in at local Cancer Research this afternoon to see a friend who works there on on Monday and they were having a sale.
Came away with a Per Una cotton summer dress in white with grey flowers on it for £2 & a fantastic silk & linen summer jacket in light brown & aqua blue from Horst Basler for another £2.
Checked out Horst Basler on the internet, (not heard of them before) and even in a sale I found no jacket was under £195.00.
I was beginning to think there were no bargains left in CS shops but I have definately changed my mind this afternoon!
Happy hunting everybody.:)0 -

I had a most satisfactory afternoon: I popped back to the Salvation Army shop to see if they had any size 9 men's shoes which they did not. What they did still have was the beautiful purple Boden cardi I dithered about and didn't buy last week. I skipped when I saw it was still there: mine for £2.99 What is also mine is a sweet miniature black Tula rucksack in perfect condition for a mere 50 pence. I think I need to have a work with them about their pricing.
I did have success at the Oxfam shop where I found a rather nice pair of brown Clarks men's shoes for a whole £2.99 The young man didn't seem to be around when I got back this afternoon so I hope he's about tomorrow morning so I can give them to him. I think I need to have a rummage in the drawer and find a suitable pair of socks to go with them.0 -

Where are you in N. London. I`m in South London and we rarely get bargains like you got. Well done but I do think it was well deserved!:A0 -

I am deep in the 'hood in N17. Where I go CS trawling is to Walthamstow which might be a bit too far for you. There are good CS in S, London but you might need to go further afield in the more swanky, upmarket areas rather than your own neck of the woods. There are some outstanding CS shops in Putney, most especially the Hospice shop and there's a Hospice furniture shop just off the High Street which sells extremely beautiful things at very reasonable prices considering the quality.
Have you ever been to the Salvation Army CS just off Oxford Circus? That's most definitely worth spending the fare to get there.0 -
I got a brand new Lau$a A$hley top for £6, when I got home noticed the original tag said £40!:D0
