Today was a good un, Gap silk dress in a deep sea green for my eldest (£1.99), a pair of Abercrombie and Fitch jeans for me (£3), a pair of flowery cords for the 3 year old (50p), a Minton teapot (£2), 2 Orla Kiely enamelled plant pots (£1 each), 4 Kath Kidston mugs (£1 the lot) and 2 radley leather handbags for £8 each - plus a pile of books and DVDS, no more shopping until the end of next month :)

Great bargain last week- a Hobbs tweed jacket and skirt for £6. Couldn't believe it!

I'm a total charity shop convert. Can anyone recommend any shops in and around London where I might find other good deals?

I got my Hobbs stuff from Haven House Hospice in Chingford

There's an excellent Salvation Army shop on Princes Street, just round the corner from Oxford Circus tube.

Hint: get yourself to the parts of London and surrounding areas where the four-wheel-tractor-driving Yummy Mummys can be found. Or rather, their extremely expensive-when-new and good-quality cast-offs. The fave areas near me are Islington and Crouch End
  • :j I sooooo love reading this thread!!! Even though I have got myself many good bargains from charity shops over the years, I'm still amazed at some of the stuff people have managed to get on here!

My mum and I are off for a charity shop extravaganza tomorrow so fingers crossed we find some good stuff!

    Happy hunting everyone :)

Nipped in to my local CS yesterday & got DH two fat Wilbur Smith books - one was 2 books in one - £1.00 each (that should keep him quiet for a while ;)) Not the cheapest I know but one of our CS's charges £4.00 for some of the books

Went in lots of charity shops yesterday, but not that much to be had, I did however pick up a great bargain for my Hubby for £3.99 I got these gloves http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Screamer-Traverse-Ski-Snowboard-Ski-Pass-Pocket-Winter-Warm-Gloves-SALE-/250987736324?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Skiing_Snowboarding_Clothing_LE&var=&hash=item3a7008ed04 as I thought they'd be perfect for when he's riding his bike as he suffers with cold hands - he really likes them, and I was pleased to find they were a good bargain (as I consider the shop I got them in to overprice stuff just a little).

I also got a lovely blanket for £2.50 that I will be using for a craft project, a great bargain as buying a similar area of suitable fabric would have cost me at least 3 times as much (and them some)!

Saw a lovely necklace for £1.50 but had run out of money by then (and it was time to go home so I couldn't pop to the bank).
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I am so enjoying this thread, lovely to hear of every ones bargains.

I had a few nice finds today, a Body shop coconut body butter brand new and sealed, these are £6, half price at the moment in the Body shop, it was £1.00, so i'm really happy with that. Set of 6 plain side plates which look new and a set of six vintage ruby red sherry glasses in perfect condition which I couldn't resist. Each item cost £1 from a local hospice that was selling everything for £1.00. So for £3.00 I am a happy bunny.

    Keep hunting.:)

    Evening all

wow, haven't we all had some cracking bargains of late!

I found a brand new Aqualisa white bathmat for £3, a Spike Milligan book for 99p for DH, a nice handy sized white churchill jug for £2 and two retro patterned ladies blouses for £2 each. (I thought I would use them for crafting but they are so nice and excellent quality I might try and sell them on fleabay!).

Hope you all enjoy your chazza shop browsing!

Yesterday from the hospice shop: a really good quality mandolin food slicer (for slicing the veg. I am going to grow to put in the dehydrator I am going to buy!), and a lovely thick pure wool rug to cosy up the bare boards in the bathroom. Love charity shops, win-win all round. Now, if I can just find a dehydrator I will be truly madly deeply happy!
