Hi there, I have been enjoying reading about everyone's great finds!!
I love charity shops and find it hard to resist buying things for my home(even though I'm meant to be de-cluttering):o
One of my best finds has been a Thomas Kent pink mantle clock, in perfect condition, for £2.50 from the local hospice shop, and today, I found a Villeroy&Boch candy jar for £1.99 (circa 1985), with a gorgeous bird design, from age concern(my fav)!:j
Good luck with your finds!January 2020 GC - £151.09/£180
February 2020 GC - £0/£2000 -
Air ambulance half price sale!!
Monsoon dress £2.50! Woo hoo!0 -
Best buy was two transformers figures for £3 mint condition..price in Argos was over £30
Books, I buy 99% of my books there. Last big find was the complete inspector morse set, brand new and unopened £50 -
I typed a reply the other day & it didn't post, anyway...
In the British heart foundation shop I noticed a box of about 30 jewellery making magazines marked at 50p each. So I asked the assistant if I might get a discount for taking the whole lot (I wouldn't normally ask for discounts in a charity shop, but I know it can be hard for them to shift magazines for specific hobbies/subjects) and she asked for a grand total of just £3 for the whole lot - their original cover price was nearly £120! I never buy magazines & they're just too expensive, and I find most stuff available on the internet, so this stack of mags is going to keep me in reading material for months & months, and when I'm done with them I can pass them on to my beading friends!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Hello, I've just joined and I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts about their charity shop finds. Thought I'd add mine......
A beautiful wide patent leather Whistles belt for £3.
Brand new pair of Schuh purple suede gladiator platform shoes £5.
Pair of Miss Selfridge skinny jeans looked like they'd never been worn £2.
Next hooded jacket for my little boy £2.50.
These were from The Education and Culture Charity Shop in Wood Street in Walthamstow. This is a real treasure trove. Sometimes you won't find anything, other times you'll find loads of great stuff!
Also, today I got a beautiful alpaca wool stripy dress in shades of grey for £3. In lovely condition. This was from a local charity in Highams Park.0 -
Anyway I found 5 lead crystal glasses; 2 port & 3 sherry for 50p each. The sherry glasses are much better quality but all have chips (hence the price) around the rim but I want them for little vases anyway so I was really pleased.
Just in case some of those chips are on the sharp side you can rub them down with a bit of emery paper to smooth them off.
I managed a lovely top from M & Co for £1.50 - it was a geometric pattern & went beautifully with a pair of trousers I had so I wore it on Saturday to DS1 birthday.
I've been CSing for years - first from necessity as a single mum but now because I love a bargain! Mine doesn't stop at clothes though - I've bought lots of pieces of furniture over the years - no MDF & Hardboard just lovely wood & dovetailsSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
In times hopefully not long gone, I was famous for nabbing silk shirts and Designer Bargains ie Burberry Macs, Joseph Trousers... I used to visit my local Oxfam a lot before it went all High Street on me and the quality declined. Not that there isn't some fantastic High Street brands around because they are.
When I lived in London I used to visit Hampstead Oxfam and hence the silk shirt habit began; very good for keeping cool in summer and warm in winter, even though it doesn'nt seem remotely MSE.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
Reading whatever books I want to the rescue!:money::beer[/B
