What is your charity shop bargain of the week?

I went to Salisbury yesterday and they have a street full of different CS. Purchased some mustard cords for £2.99 for DS1, a HB book on psychic crime solving for £1.50, Thomas DVD for £1.99 and from Warminster CS, a new red silk and cotton blouse from French Connection for £6.00.
I don't usually find much in the way of clothes; all the towns around here are market/small, not particularly wealthy areas. I should make a special trip to Bath really, when funds allow. I know the Oxfam one right at the very top of town, but are there any others?
It's true about boy's clothes, there's never anything of any quality unfortunately and I find pricing to be hit and miss, even on items within the same shop.
I'm looking for some dainty floral/gold tea sets but everything I've seen lately is pretty plain or ugly!0 -
Two charity shop drop offs, one yesterday and one today at different shops. I always feel it's a bit rude not to browse while I'm there
so I had a bit of a wander round both. Found a glittery vest t-shirt for DD (Next) for £1, and today I got her a pair of jeans and two summer t-shirts for £2.50...bit big, but fine for next year.
I also bought myself a big wrap round black jacket with a faux fur shawl collar that turns into a hood. It's not as warm as it looks but it's dressy and I don't have a dressy warm jacket atm so I was well pleased. I don't recognise the brand but from the look of the fabric it's vintage, perfect condition, £4.00...also three sizes too large but hey, I'll just wrap it round a bit further. Room for all the mince pies anyway!Val.0 -

Look out for Scout jumble sales! Scouts and Cubs are still mostly boys so their sales are a good source of outgrown clothes.
Also sports gear, I kept my kids in judo and ski gear from Scout sales for years, not to mention actual scout clothes!Val.0 -
My first visit to the new shop that opened up in the city the other week & I bought a pack of 3 laundry bags for 95p (great for stopping socks going atray etc.) - which is fab because the other week the zip broke on my only bag & I had to chuck it out.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

Thanks for this, wouldn't have thought about this idea! I'll have a look and see if there's anything like that here. :j0 -

I gave a massive amount of stuff to a cs when we downsized, really good stuff that I could have got good money for but tbh I made certain that they weren`t given away for pence. Included was a lovely lovely full bone china tea set with all the pieces. I deliberately chose oxfam for my stuff and had a word with them about getting the right price, which I am sure they did. I couldn`t just give my stuff away as I wanted oxfam to benefit and that made me feel better re downsizing. I gave lots of low value stuff to the community shop, including bedding and I am sure that people benefited. Nowadays I don`t buy things that I don`t use but I am still in process of donating items such as lengths of cloth, books and bedding and they go to a hospice shop but a bit at a time0 -

That is so good of you to give your extras to a charity shop so they can benefit in a monetary way and you can certainly pat yourself on the back for doing that and I'm sure it makes you feel better.
I work in a charity shop as an area manager and we do get a lot of stick sometimes for pricing but you know sometimes the goods handed in are only fit for the rag bag yet some people think they are worth a lot of money. However the recent demand for rags for recycling is a godsend as it least we do get some money for spending the time sorting through everything.
Have a lovely day.0 -
Two, brand new, heavy gauge steel pie plates, with a ten year guarantee. £1 the pair. Yippee!0

I got a very good haul today!
Two pairs of trousers for work from Next and M&S, I think they were £3 each.
A gorgeous coat from Warehouse, brown & beige check with a detachable fur collar, £7.90. It really is lovely. It's the same as this one on ebay but the photo really doesn't do it justice, it's much nicer in real life.
A wooden jewellery box with hooks for hanging necklaces, which I have wanted for a long time. Paid £4.99 for it.
And best of all, £4.50 for an absolutely gorgeous vintage necklace, I think from the style it's 1960s. Sterling silver with a filigree dragonfly and a little black stone that looks like onyx. Even my husband thinks it's gorgeous!0 -
We are participating I the rucksack project this year. Details on facebook but you put together a backpack with warm clothing a sleeping bag and food and give the bag to a rough sleeping homeless person. We are putting together three bags.
Got two t shirts and a pair of jeans for £2.
Three warm jumpers for £6
Three beanies for £1.50 and three scarves for £2
Three bags (backpacks) and two sleeping bags for £9.
Just need one more sleeping bag and to find three homeless people. If you dont know where you are going... Any road will take you there :rotfl:0
