Similar story down here; misty morning, cleared, by 12:00 then overcast by 15:30. Strange though, GM read 5444.4 at end of play, and O's turned out to be 4.44 O's....How strange is that..? Must be an omen there somewhere.....eusa_think.gif...........coffee.gif

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Had another so so day yesterday with just over a couple of O's. Forecast today was for cloud till late on, how wrong can they get it, its been glorious since 9.30am and I'm banging out nearly 4kWh over the 3 systems, washers on, all phones being charged and fan in conservatory blowing warm air into the house.

For the record, my systems combined total cost is a smidge under £17k, a lot...yes, but 2 are on the highest tariff and only the WNW attracts the lowest of 13.5p. Worth it...hell yes
    2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)

Just out of curiosity, do most of you have an economy 7 meter?

We used to have one, but changed to standard a few years ago. Is it worth changing back? Do you usually have to pay for meter change?

Also, if this makes any difference, the reason I am asking is because we have a hot tub and I'm looking for ways to best utilise the power We make/import etc.

    Any suggestions welcomed :)

We have absolutely no idea as we don't know what your consumption is during E7 hours.

I've just looked at npower economy 7 guide. They suggest that if you use less than 35% of your daily electric at night is is unlikely to benefit you.
We tend to accrue approx 3kwh between midnight and 7am. Our daily usage prior to pv was,on average, 15kwh per day.
Since install, we seem to be down to 9-10kwh per day.

On that basis, do you think I'm probably better off staying as I am.

I've read on this forum about a gadget that diverts surplus generated energy to an immersion tank. We have a combi boiler, so this is no use to us, but I wonder if it could work on something like a hot tub??

Assuming that "per day" means the full 24 hours, that's 30-33% night usage, so you are just below the 35% suggested. Why did you change from E7 in the first place?

We found that using the hot tub in the day was overriding any savings we were making at night with the washer/dishwasher etc on.
Also the hot tub switches on/off at will to maintain temp set. This was my line of thought around making most of pv generation, just not sure how at this stage :D

Just checked our generation for the month so far. Amazing the difference 12 months makes, we are virtually at 2013 figures and we're only half way through the month!

So far 160kWh for March, 2013 for the full month was 173kWh

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Think the OptiPlug may do what you want if you heat your Hot-Tub during generation periods (depending on consumption when it is heating water). ;)eusa_think.gif
