Emailed them yesterday asking if I was going to get the money and they replied asking who and where did I apply to, as they had already paid everyone who had applied. In other words they had lost my application thanks EON.
Finally got an answer from them after several phone calls and emails, they have credited my account with the money but said it was a gratia (sp) payment or some such as 'they' didn't think I qualified for it. Not sure how they reached that decision as I filled the criteria and ticked all three boxes?0 -
Mine has finally been credited to my account......We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
If anyone still hasn't received the warm home discount try contacting your supplier and quoting the Warm Home Discount Regulations 2011 which is statutory law. It could be that you can make a complaint to Consumer Focus. If I'm reading and understanding the regulations correctly and I'm not saying I am, the payment must be given by 31st March to those who automatically qualify:(6) If a notice under regulation 6(1) is given to a scheme electricity supplier on or before 1st March in a scheme year, the scheme electricity supplier must provide the prescribed rebate to the core group customers specified in the notice by 31st March in that scheme year.6.-(1) The Secretary of State may in any scheme year give one or more notices to a scheme electricity supplier specifying persons to whom, subject to regulations 7 and 8, the supplier must provide the prescribed rebate.

btw my supplier for both gas and electric is Ebico and their partner in my area, Southern Electric provides the fuel and gave me the warm home discount in December. (hint)

I'm not sure where i stand i applied on time ...just (30th Jan) then was called (5 Days later!!!!!)by British gas' warm home discount team who confirmed my eligibility and said i need do nothing more i would be getting my payment! when i never received my payment i called was told i wasn't eligible (i was told and KNOW i am) so i called back any they confirmed i was entitled but it was taking a longer time that originally expected to make all the payment so it could be as late as the 8th of April. then when i never received it but the 15th April i called to find out what was going on they said they had already sent me a cheque for the payment to which i have never received (funny as i receive all other guff they send me!!) they said they would send an email to a team who would contact me withing a week ... phone a week later having had no call and was told the email was never even sent - that cheques weren't sent out to prepayment customers! they confirmed i should receive and couldn't understand why i hadn't then emailed waited another week for a call nothing so calling back they confirm again i should be getting it its a case of am i getting a payment straight onto key or are they going to send me a 8 digit code to enter online someone would DEFIANTLY UNDOUBTEDLY call me back in no later than three days .. well after waiting 5 days i got fed up and called today only to be told i applied to late.... nobody was even going to call me they were just going to leave it at that... is there nothing i can do?

There does seem to be a lot of confusion here regarding the Warm Home Discount. Unless you are one of the few still left on a supplier's social tariff, you may apply for the WHD rebate regardless of which tariff you are on. As much as everyone does love to bash the energy suppliers, it's actually DECC who are forcing suppliers to close down their discounted and social tariffs - the new system is extremely frustrating for energy suppliers as they are not allowed to overspend their allocated budget (determined by Govt) by more than 1%, whereas previously, under the Voluntary Agreement, there was a minimum spend but no cap. Most of the suppliers wre happy to provide the old tariffs if there was any sign of vulnerability but now the legislation means the suppliers have to choose specific benefits etc. A couple of the suppliers have opened 2012/3 - the Core Group who automatically get the rebate of £130 this year are - anyone on Guarantee Element only of PC - and anyone over 80 (in July) with both Guarantee and Savings PC.0

The energy companies are private companies.
I can't see how anyone can force them to close their social tariffs.
British Gas have told me the government have forced them to close their Essentials social tariff, but I think that's nonsense.0 -
Who are DECC, I assume it's a government body ?

DECC is Dept of Energy and Climate Change, and I'm afraid the Warm Home Discount regs do state that the "Legacy" component of WHD i.e. the amount of money energy providers could continue to use to provide the old style discounted and social tariffs is time limited, meaning suppliers must get everyone off of their social tariff very soon - failure to do this will cost the energy suppliers a fine of 10% of their group turnover (which of course would mean higher prices for everyone).0 -
i finally got my application forms from SSE for 2012/13 today0

Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.0
