Not sure what's going on with British Gas. I looked on their website about this scheme and thought I didn't qualify because our total household income is too high (son still living with me) I phoned them anyway and was told I didn't qualify.
I received the standard application form as my essentials tariff was ending so I filled out anyway and returned it in September. As I didn't hear anything from them I phoned a couple of weeks ago and they again said I didn't qualify so I told them I would be switching supplier. Yesterday morning I had a letter from them confirming I would get the £130 dual fuel grant.
So I'm a bit confused by all this as I don't want to use too much energy in case they suddenly withdraw it but don't want to phone them about it in case I've lucked out by an error :huh:0 -
It's a disgrace that the energy companbies are allowed to run it like this with people waiting on the whim of private energy companies. They both control the energy price & access to the grant, it's a joke.
Yes it is a joke and it's not fair!!
Do I put my heating on or don't I over winter?
Will I get the grant to pay towards my winter bill?
What if I do if I put the heating on and they don't give it me as they said I will have to wait until March to hear?
Best not put the heating on.
This will be going on in a lot of people's mind's, it is mine.0 -

Received a form today to fill in and confirm my application, ticked all of the three categories. Even though it was free post to return I paid for them to sign when they receive it to be on the safe side, so they cant say they didn't like last year. So keeping my fingers crossed I get it sooner rather than later so I can put the heating on without worrying about the bill. Good luck to anyone else who's applied, hope you get it0

Am aware it is not a voucher in true sense of the word - British gas chap said that there was a barcode on letter that acted as a voucher that you take to Post office and collect a credit to the key with it. Along with 2 ID's.0
