Is it only those on pension credit who will qualify for this warm home discount scheme?

My friend is on a low income and has severe COPD although she works full time. She gets HRM DLA. She's mid 50s. Any chance she might qualify? She's with British Gas for gas and electricity.

No, check terms & conditions, there are other ways to qualify.

Go to British Gas website & search for WHD.

can someone give me some advice on this please.

at my mum's house (since my father passed away) the electricity account has ended up in my name. i don't really mind this, as i'm the one who pays her bills online for her.

last year (even though the account was in my name) she received her warm home discount (automatically eligible - pension credit) on 14/12/11, but this year she has not even received a letter from the DWP yet.

have the criteria changed? is there now greater emphasis on the named account holder rather than the vulnerable person within the household? it would not be any trouble to change the name back to hers, but it is frustrating that she may have missed out this year after her circumstances are unchanged since last year.

    any advice appreciated!

thanks, but what i was particularly interested in was whether anyone knows for sure whether the rules have changed from last year to this with regard to whether the recipient of the payment has to be the named account holder. last year the payment just turned up (my mum had received a letter but hadn't really paid much attention to it). this year there has been no letter, which gives me the impression they no longer believe she is eligible.

i'd just like to know if anybody has an idea about the changes. i will ring eon on monday regardless, and then i'll be forced to call the DWP on their irony-is-not-dead 0845 number...
  • If she is getting state pension and or pension credit as well, it should be automatic and according to my supplier paid prior to Christmas for those in this category. Anyone who qualifies in the broader sense, income related benefits or low incomes etc, will be getting theirs after Christmas in the 1st 1/4 of the year before March 31st. Which is me. My bill cycle is Feb 22nd so mine should be landing around then I was told. So it should show up as a credit on your bill or meter if that makes sense.
