Sky offer a deal at £26 - but read the small print, u need a BT line, so overall I think the costs will be similar.
Im sticking with VM!
I haven't decided if I am going to switch yet or not but I did call sky to see what they would offer me. Like you, I have a router that is not compatible with a BT line but I was told that I would recieve a router anyway if I switch to sky. Also, I was quoted £36 including my line rental to BT.0 -

Would you say you are actually pleased to have lost it then? I mean surely any loss to your package is a loss, and if it doesn't affect you as you don't watch the channel then fine but why does it please you so much? Does having the channel there really offend you or something?:rotfl: x
Hi Claire,
I don't watch the Simpsons, Stargate, etc etc but OH does which is why I am pleased I won't have to suffer them anymore!
Feel sorry for your mum and others like her who are disappointed as I would be gutted (well that may be a bit strong) to lose my favourite channels fortunately for me though none of them are Sky owned channels!0 -
Of course you could find a nice friend in the US who might record the programs for you~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't ever stop believing........
Never get tired of watching you, someday you will break through.....0 -
If you want to watch programmes like Lost or Simpsons may i suggest instead of downloading them just go to one of the many streaming sites out there that provide links to them.
These programs are very easy to find on line and are very good quality aswell.
If anyone would like links just pm me as i dont know if putting them up on this forum is allowed.
I will say these websites don't break the law they just provide links to external sites like youtube.
I have been watching Heroes online now since it first aired in America. (it has just come to the scfi channel and will be shown on BBC 2 later this year).
It broadcasts in America Monday evenings and i watch it Tuesday evening online.
I will now do this with Lost aswell.0 -
I'm on telewest, now virgin media.
I've read a lot of posts about virgin refusing to pay Sky excess charges.
Do any others think it's a little bit of a con job, let me explain:
When virgin changed the menu screen to black/yellow the 'virgin central 1&2' channels were created at the same time.
THEN the trouble started between Virgin & Sky over charging for channels.
Now we have lost sky.
It seems obvious to me Virgin wanted to dump sky all along to create thier own channels, THUS saving huge sums of money plus increasing Virgins PROFITS.
Money saving is now a way of life:cool:0 -
TaBunny,
I used Bitlord - google for it. There's a pro version that I assumed you have to pay for, and a free version which I used. It has built-in searching.0 -
For the people looking for a torrent client for downloading their legal friends holiday videos etc (;)), you're best off using utorrent http://www.utorrent.com/download.php i've been told it's very good.Lost lbs =

Haha, ahh it becomes clear.. it confused me as to why you were so pleased about it going if you didn't watch it you see!
Think mum is looking into going with sky now, although i've told her to try and keep the free tv with NTL and see if she can get a good deal on broadband and phoneline (to stop her changing to BT @ £10.75 per month and having the free sky broadband so it would have to match that) since she's now having to change TV providers which will be costing her more per month (she's a pensioner too). Think i may have to speak to them for her though as she's not very good at getting better deals with her packages when she has problems lol.Lost lbs =
