Spoke to a very rude person after 25minutes on hold at Virgin who is trying to force me to pay a termination lump sum of £201
I'm certainly not paying this. Can anyone offer any advice?

We signed up at the end of December, standard 12months however, 'due to unforseen circumstances' :rotfl: the place we are renting is being sold so we will be moving.. Virgin have told me I will have to pay the full termination fee which would be around £490    Can anyone offer any advice about this, has anyone else been in a 12month contract and had to move during that period?
EDIT/ Obviously we will not be wanting Virgin/telewest services at the new place, we'll be switching back to Sky.
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

KzInd- I have just spoken to Virgin. We are in a 12 month contract (although it expires in April) and told them I was cancelling TV from today as it is now glorified freeview and all other services from 15th April (when the current bill runs out as that's when we've paid until, not when contract finishes - that's 30th April) and they were fine. They've downgraded our TV to their free package and eveything cancelled from 15th April - no problems and no termination charge. I muttered something about a significant change in our package and their terms and conditions (section J iirc) and had no problems at all. The guy I spoke to wasn't exactly Mr Happy, but I guess he's having a tough day lol

    Worried about losing Lost?
We're planning to add all 3 series of Lost to our revolutionary on demand service. Series 1 and 2 will be available soon and series 3 is coming your way later this year. What's more, since they're all available on demand, they'll be ready for you to watch anytime you like. Watch one, watch them all, back to back – without the ads.

Virgin Media is the only place to get these ground-breaking services and we want to put you in control.

Anyone know how much this will be.....my sons not speaking to me this morning cos he's lost his precious sky one....anyone would think it's MY fault.......most mums with teenagers on here will understand this!!!!!!

Well, i was mad as sky one is the only reason that i pay for packages on my tv with ntl(virgin) and its gone!! So i was going to jump to sky but after reading what virgin says(and i believe their side of the story), i refuse to let sky get my money so im going to buy the lost episodes off of ebay or the website and get rid of tv all together.
The money i will save will be brilliant and the summer is on its way so im going to spend the money on going out with the family and maybe doing more quality things with the kids.
I may get a bit twitchy but there are always videos and dvds if we miss them too much.

So heres hoping not too many of you switch and give in to greedy sky!

I am sooooo pleased to have lost Sky One - no more endless Simpsons!! No more Stargate!!! Yay. Don't watch Lost or 24

Now had it been Living TV and America's Next top Model then I would have been kicking up!

It will be free as part of the Virgin Central channel. Loads of deals in the pipeline too, I wouldn't be too hasty to ditch Virgin, it's looking like it could be much better than Sky by the end of the year........

Has anyone not heard of Torrents? U can find all your shows and download them easily enough using torrents.,

Im with VM (tv,phone, broadband) but Im not moving, partly because I have a cable modem wireless router.
I can live without Sky One as all top shows can be downloaded easily enough
Only thing I really watch is Cold Case and 24. I can watch HD TV Rips instead of watching the tele.

U can also watch them (legally I might add) online - though view a little small.

I am up to date on watching Heroes as well (downloaded of course) - fantastic series, glad Sky dont have that.

Heroes has just started on Sci Fi, will start on BBC later in the year. Im up with the Americans - Episode 17

Sky offer a deal at £26 - but read the small print, u need a BT line, so overall I think the costs will be similar.

    Im sticking with VM!

Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.

Lets hope Sky and bully boy Murdoch loose money on this, having shelled out heavily on their latest poaching expedition.

They have used their buying power to poach films from rival satellite BSB and then close it down, football, cricket, rugby and staff from the BBC. (and are the cause of inflated footballers wages).

Poached popular progs like Simpsons, 24 and Lost from CH4, (only after they became popular) forcing enthusiasts into Pay Per View to contine their addiction.

AND what IMHO this is really about, stopped Branson from competing with them in the market of buying programmes when they stopped his planned takeover of ITV ( Bransons way specifically to compete with Sky?). The latter has really made Branson smart by scuppering his plans for the time being.
They were also worried about the effect Freeview's slowing down the takeup of SKY, SO are making their Freeview channels PPV from July.

It is about time Ofcom got of their backsides, but I doubt very much if they will. Their record on 0870 numbers is a pointer.

What makes you say the website is legal ? I wouldn't think that it is.
(Just don't want you getting in trouble for posting a link to a dodgy website.)
Why do companies offer you "free gifts?"
Since when has a gift NOT been free?

Well yep they've gone, but for those of you who care and most of you probably know already anyway, you can watch all the sky news video bulletins online. I hate bbc news 24 it bores me silly, I know some of you will disagree and say that sky news can be a little trite and silly at times but I prefer the bouyant nature of the reporters and the breaking news etc. Anyway re sky one, yes virgin are reported to be bringing ALL the shows which we lose over onto virgin central around August. I think they are not allowed to show any series until it has already been shown on tv by the original purchasers (ie sky). So they could easily buy up Lost series 1 and 2 and keep us all going with that until the new one has ended and let's be honest it must be nearly over, I wasn't happy when they cut it off halfway through and made us wait 6 weeks for the next half. But come on we're all grown ups we can wait it's not life or death, it's just tv! My teenagers had a good moan too, but then teenagers moan over everything lol, this will be old news soon. I'd rather they watched discovery than sky one most of the time anyway. Ok so a lot of people seem to be extremely upset over this and I can see why but at the end of the day Branson was being bullied, every customer service rep I've spoken to on Virgin has agreed that Murdock would not have done this had it stayed telewest or ntl, it's Murdock running scared of a little competition and wanting to keep the big boys out the park. Here, here I say to new direction, to change for the good. After all BA would still have it's sticky fingers in the biggest pie if it hadn't been for Branson.

I'll admit I blew my top first hearing of the loss of lost etc but then I sat back and thought about it and realised in the big scheme of things it's not that much of a biggie. It's not like in this day and age there isn't some other form of entertainment to keep us all happy, games machines, mp3's, books, cds, dvds, internet, etc etc surely we can all live without one or two channels when millions in the world live without water.

    :o)
