Oh the joys of the word 'why'. DD (just turned 4) is driving me crackers with it at the minute, and it seems even more relentless when I'm driving!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......2

Morning all,
Jimmy - yes, it was particularly while I was driving when a) I couldn't hear her properly and b) I needed to concentrate as I had no idea where I was and was following the sat nav... clearly it's a child's intuition to be as awkward as possible
The oven-baked dhal was a bit disappointing last night. The flavours were great, but the split peas didn't soften. I hadn't used them before and hadn't soaked them - mainly because no mention of soaking them was made in the recipe (which is very unlike BBC GF). One piece of fish between us was fine though and there is plenty of dhal leftover for both of us for lunch today with a naan (recipe is only meant to serve two!). We'll definitely have it again though, but I'll pre-soak the peas and adjust the cooking liquid.
Tonight we have friends coming over for dinner and we're having pea and prawn risotto and chocolate mousse (all gluten and largely dairy free). Peas are courtesy of the veg box, rather than the freezer. Otherwise it's all fairly standard - we have risotto a lot. I have got to make the chocolate mousses though, which will be a new experience. I've got chocolate I can use up in them though
In the meantime, I have more work to be continuing with.
MS things:
* Clicks done
* Leftovers for lunch
* Ebay is quiet, but there's a bid on something that didn't sell last week
Gratitudes:
* That naughty ginger cat finally regurgitated the plastic he'd eaten the other day - had visions of the vet's bill wiping out the ebay profits (and then some) (Sorry, TMI!)
* Great customer service from energy supplier on the phone (and an emailed apology for not responding sooner to my email that acknowledged that I'd already got it sorted now).
* The chocolate that DH brought home when I asked him to pop into the shop for forgotten ingredients for last night's dinner

Have just paid the pre-budgeted items off of my cc bill - Niece's bday present, DH's present (the budgeted for bit!), NTbB excursion and car insurance. The small underspend (£8.70) has gone to savings against plastering costs.
Once Ebay sales have been approved (i.e. feedback left), I'll transfer this money to the mortgage
ETA:
* £3 PC survey done
* Several PA surveys done - at £5.10

The split pea thing must have been unpleasant ... I soak them overnight and cook for an hour, often boiling for 10 minutes as well.Here's to regurgitated plastic2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Nooo.... don’t let me put you off!! The car itself is lovely to drive - I really like driving it, it’s so easy. The shenanigans with the wiring are mainly due to the fact that there should be a label on our main fuse box and there isn’t - suspect it’s fallen off at some point.
NG - friends rescheduled in the end as they weren’t feeling well, so didn’t make the mousse. They’re coming in a couple of weeks now, so will report back then.
In big news, the old car went this morning! (*insert clapping smiley*). Man turned up as he said he would, paid agreed sum and took it away (and not for parts as we feared). DH had also had the tax refund through, so he’s been down and paid £550 in this morning, so a nice chunk back into his savings.
Have made some biccies this morning and all housework has been done. Need to make some (normal) dhal to go with our naans for lunch (they never made it into the freezer, so need eating). The rest of the dhal can be portioned up for lunches this week. This evening we’ve got fajitas for tea, so I need to make some tortillas later. There’s washing in the machine - might put it out in the line as it’s so windy.
Gratitudes:
* Dad popped round for a biscuit and a cuppa - he’s off to Vegas next week with his new lady friend (who he met on the Egyptian holiday) - was nice to see him
* finally feeling fully better (touch wood)
* The car has gone! I was sad to see it go, but we can now charge the new one (since the old one was sorned it’s been on the drive, which has made charging at home close to impossible)
Enjoy your afternoon folks!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Had a bit more of a think about Jimmy’s leap day challenge....
29 x daily interest = £111.
Our mortgage is currently £70814. On 2/3 they’ll take the next payment of £646, which, with the £111 would bring us squeakily close to under £70k (£57). This is obviously before interest is applied, but shhh!
So, I think the leap day payment should either be £111 or £170.... I know which is my choice, but as I won’t pay myself till next week it might be tricky.... but... I’m sure DH can help me out and I’ve got the eBay sales. £170 it is!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Had a bit of a rummage around (down the back of the virtual sofa) and have found £147 so far. This includes a huge £95 that we're owed by our former energy supplier, who should be paying us back early next month. There's enough slush in the bills account that I've taken this out for the OP. Also raided the NW Rewards balance, TT'd my current account (£10) and paid the ebay fees/postage out of PP and taken the subsequent money for the item that I've had feedback for. I'll try to wait until I have feedback for more of the recently sold stuff before I assume it's all my money (made that mistake before). Hopefully though, that'll come this week. I've still got a little bit of cash in my current a/c, but I don't want to take this out until a bit closer to payday, just in case I need some actual cash. If I head into town later this week, I'll take the contents of my sheepbank - I forgot to get DH to do that earlier. It looks like we should make it - and I haven't even asked DH yet!
Hmm.... *wonders what monthly interest will be applied.... and can we stay under £70k??*Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
