    Yey! :j

Finally received statements today from RBS for 2 credit cards I had with them which are now closed.

Sent my initial letter requesting these on 2nd February.

Can't wait to finish work and sit and add everything up! :D

    Hi guys,
Took me a long time to get round to sending off for my bank statements - don't know why, I suppose I was a bit nervous, didn't want RBS to close my account etc, and I only thought I would be reclaiming around £100, so was it really worth my while...?
Anyhoo I sent my letter to Edinburgh HO on 27th Feb, and got all my statements today (and some extra... I asked for 5 years, but they sent 6 years... who am I to grumble??).
Turns out I can reclaim £300 so I have typed up the next letter to take into my branch on Monday. Probably cheeky, but is this ok? - it makes sure it gets there and saves recorded postage . MSE all the way:T
Fingers crossed it won't take too long.
    Will keep you posted
    Mrs B.

  • I wrote to the Halifax requesting the return of my bank charges including interest and they have replied stating that they are looking into the matter and that the Financial Services Authority gives them 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints and that if they do not have a definitive answer within 4 weeks they will write and let me know what is going on.

Do I just send them the Court letter after two weeks or am I now supposed to work within the time scale of 8 weeks set out by the FSA ?

    Thanks, Julie

Don't accept their delaying tactics. You act according to YOUR timeframe, so you send the court letter after the two weeks and then file the claim. That should wake them up.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH
  • Hi,
I've just encountered what I think is a delaying tactic from the Halifax and wonder what it means.
I wrote to them five weeks ago asking for a refund of charges, Within a week I got a letter saying they'd deal with my request within four weeks. This weekend I got a letter saying they were sorry not to have been in touch sooner but now it would be April 13th before they could get back to me - another month. What could be the purpose of this delaying tactic. Is new legislation due which will effect their position. Is this why they're stalling.
    Any comments gratefully received.

They are probably snowed under in all the claims at the moment. Proceed to the next step in your claim. Dont go by their deadlines, go by yours!!!!

Hello - everyone - first post here but i've been reading and keeping up to date on here for a while.

Anyway, i got my Statements trhough from RBS this morning, 29 days after requesting them.

I have worked out that I am owed £3493 (£4482.74 with Interest) on one account (that is now long closed) and £115 (£140.09 with Interest) on another account. I am claiming all of it and the Interest!

Sending off the first claim letters today, recorded delivery.

Are RBS trying to claim they have a back-log and if so are they trying to delay settling claims? Can they even do this?

Also, from reading through the success stories it seems people are being offered the full amount plus interest as 'goodwill' gestures on smaller claims and just the charges on bigger claims. Does this seem to be the pattern? If they offer me the charges minus Interest should I take it? I want the lot plus interest really!

Anyway, wish me luck - and good luck to the rest of you making claims!

So long as you stick to your own timescales regardless of what they tell you you will get the full amount back.

    Good luck :D

If they offer you the full amount in fact you must accept it, you are only entitled to the interest should the case go to court or you have initiated court proceedings before they settle.
