I am having real problems with the RBS and the Data protection release.
It's an old account and initially we didn't have the account number etc, they sent the data protection letter back saying they cant trace without account number etc.
Anyhow managed to trace the account and sort code and re submitted the letter. Today I get the same letter back and it says they cant trace without the acct & sort number, the bank address.....surely thats what the sort code identifies!!!!!! And they say they need to know when the account was opened and closed.
I'm thinking these are delaying tactics, they have the sort and the acct number, that is surely all they need. It was all HSBC and Nat west needed.
Shall I just respond saying you have the info you require...the clock is ticking, give the statements or I will report you.
AAAAHHHHH
Debs
When I sent letter away for accounts that were closed, I didn't have any account numbers as they were a couple of years ago.
I looked on my credit report which tells you when the account was opened and settled and also gave them my date of birth and all addresses I had previously lived at that may be linked with the accounts.
I've had a couple of letters back from various banks and my partner has also saying they have received letter...dealing with it...blah blah and they have stated the account number at the top of the letters so it just goes to show they can find your details without account numbers etc.
Think they are just trying to be arkward and stalling! :mad:0 -
Hi
Thanks I looked on the credit report and got the dates Thank you so much.
Do you think I should give them another 40 days or the 20 they have left?

I'd just stick to the 20 they have left because they will only try and stretch out the 40 days anyway! :rolleyes2
Good luck!0 -
hi,dealing with royal bank of scotland, wrote initial letter 3 weeks ago, enclosed £10 cheaque asking for bank charges going back 6yrs bank not responding as yet. any one else gone through the rbs.0

This is probably a really stupid question but I am not sure what to do. We have written to the RBS to claim bank charges have not had reply so are going for a claim, but having looked at moneyclaim and spoken to their help desk I don't know if we can use a small claim through the english courts as our branch is in Glasgow and the head office is in Edinburgh (we now live in Essex). Does anyone know if this is relevant? I have been told they need to have a serviced address in England, can we send the claim to any branch in England? has anyone else done this?
Thanks0 -
Its only when you come to the MCOL stage that you need to enter an English address for RBS, use one of the main London addresses, meantime you send your claim to the branch you use. RBS are one of the quicker banks to refund so I wouldn't worry about MCOL as yet.0

Thanks, I will do that, fingers crossed!0

oh bognor - Edinburghlass have I done it wrong ? I submittted my MCOL using the address of post 3 on a thread regarding the addresses to use.
I used the one in Edinburgh for my claim - should I now contact them and try to amend it ?
I submitted my 2 letters to RBS and once past the deadline I phoned them and they said it would take up to 8 weeks to look at so I am proceeding through the courts.

If MCOL accepted the address it will be fine but from what I have read it won't accept you putting in a Scottish address and hence the suggestion of one of the London addresses.0

Thanks once I've been to DD's school assembly, watched DD2 perform the guitar and taken the cat to the vets I will phone them up.
thanks for your help - Michelle xI am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL
