This doesnt apply to only the same roles youve worked as before. Lets say you want to work in a different sector for the sake of cash. You can easily melt your CV down a little.
Ok im not saying its that easy, might be harder to do the more experience you have. But if youve been off work for some time that can help!

What you do is, create FOLDERS on your desktop.

Label them as such for example -

    Call Centre CV
    Shop CV
    Bin Woman CV
    Etc Etc

You then amend the CV as such and label the CV shorthand like this -

CC CV - CC = Call Centre
    S CV - Shop
    BW CV - Bin Woman
    Etc Etc

Would you like me to take a look at your CV? Take off your personal details and just leave the other stuff.
This was a role I have done for 20 years.

Still must be a challenge for anyone NOT to mention certain things they have taken off their CV.

There is every point to apply again.

In 90% of cases you employ the best person/people that you see and so you are really up against the other candidates more than anything else. A different role can be interviewed by a different person who has slightly different priorities and what was an ok answer to the previous interviewer could be an exceptional answer to the next one.

I did once end up applying and not getting the perm job at a place (they wanted all the bells and whistles for a lower level job and I was missing experience in one section of the work) but ended up getting - through an agency - the temporary job there covering the same role and clearing things up for the new person. :rotfl:

Lets say youre applying for a totally new job. Maybe a shop keeper or something.

Your experience wont count for shi*t.

For some jobs, employers are looking at the person. they want to know how you express yourself, how you talk, whether you talk as if youve had the life experience and what competencies youve gained from your experiences.

So as i mentioned in my previous post about the job of a telephone interviewer, you mend your CV for the job. If youve been using the same CV for all the roles youve been applying for, well thats something i would say is a mistake right there.

LOL! Companies are daft sometimes. Youve been at a place temp for over a year, a perm role becomes available and they want you to re-apply for the perm role and go through the interview stage blah blah !!!!!! save everyone the time and money and just give the job!

Glad it worked out for ya :D

Im guessing the agency didnt know you were rejected by the company. If they find out then usually they dont let you apply.

    Also what woulkd
Why should I pretend I can't do something? If they looked at where I have worked for the last 20 years they would ask me why I never learnt the things that are currently on the CV that you are saying I should pretend I do not know. My last salary would have never been paid to me if I couldn't do half the things I could and it reflects in my CV.

Also what would I know to take off the CV and how do you keep track of 100 different versions!

Each CV should be written to reflect the individual role you are applying for. The jobs and quals stay the same, but the roles in those jobs and your 'additional information' should cover each point they require in the job. Each CV is to be saved as the company/job title/date of application so that you know which one you sent to who and when.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

If I am applying for jobs the same as I did at my last job I see no reason to change the CV.

Well if I was applying for something different I'd agree but I am not.

Arrrgh! No one is talking about you applying for the same role!
We're saying if you are applying for something slightly different.

Also, to be honest, even if you ARE applying for the same sort of work, no two companies will have the same requirements on their job spec. So always check it and include their wording in your CV!

Right. So you dont want to do anything else or experience anything else.

You just want to be a purchase ledger clerk in essex right?

Do you think when you speak to your interviewer or on the telephone you give off too much confidence?

I have never said I am looking for work in Essex, I said that was where that particular job was where I was interviewed. I am looking in all of London up to 30 miles from home.

I am looking for a Senior role in Purchase Ledger or a Supervisors role as I have managed staff before and payment runs up to £2million.
