My CV glistened with experience for the role i applied, i got to the second stage, a phone interview, which i nailed even if i do say so myself.
Then comes the email, telling me i`m unsuccessful, its like the biggest kick in the teeth i can ever imagine.
Back to !!!!!!! Asda tomorrow, stacking the shelves i thought i`d gotten away from.
At 24 it seems im stuck here for the foreseeable future/_pale__pale__pale__pale__pale__pale__pale__pale__pale_:think::think::think:_pale__pale__pale_

I don't mean to dishearten you but from what i can make out out to 1000's of people are applying for any old job(not that this job is "any old job) but you get my drift. So literally 1000's. :beer:0

It is true, but its also true that we all still need to try move up the ladder no matter what step your on.0

Did you ask for feedback and express disappointment as you really love the company and request that you be considered for any future posts should they come up?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

If the 2nd stage interview was a telephone interview, that suggests they had a LOT of applications.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Oh it's Horribly deflating isn't it, I know just how you feel. I bet you've been walking on air the last couple of days, thinking about your new life in your new job. It probably made you a happy Asda worker, thinking "won't be here much longer, teehee".
And then the e-mail says the opposite of what you were convinced it would say, and you're back to ground Zero again, totally miserable and DREADING going into the dull, repetitive Asda job.
I have been there FOUR times in the last 6 months and have asked for feedback the last twice because I figured I must be doing SOMETHING wrong. The feedback was that I was a great candidate, but someone else was just a little more perfect for the role. Can't argue that really, and best wishes to the lucky souls who got my four jobs!
Allow yourself to be disappointed, then pick yourself up and apply for another one. Think of it this way - maybe you weren't destined to get that job because it would mean you missing out on the best job in the world that will be advertised next week!?
Keep looking, you've got a great attitude and this time next year Rodney....:rotfl:0 -
One thing I have learn't from this stint of unemployment is things do not work out the way you want, You see your perfect job, you apply, you can see yourself working there, you can feel yourself getting the job, you get excited, you feel so good your bound to get the job right? You blitz the interview(s) your just waiting on the phone call telling you that you've got the job but then nothing, then comes the email "Sorry...." your heart sinks. Ok Asda isn't what you want but try and find the good in it, focus on the positive points of your job, every job has them, your time will come.0

OP things happen for a reason, you never know perhaps your not to leave your current place of employment because that is your future but in a more senior role. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

Thanks to you all for your posts, im glad some ones knows the crushing effects, i did get a personalized message back, so im happy they took some effort that others company's dont bother with.

Well, I had similar recently, was told "very impressive candidate, scored highly" etc etc but someone had performed just a little bit better otherwise I would have got it..oh well...fast forward a month and I get a phone call saying the person that got the position has had a change in personal circumstances and am I intersted. So "keeping you on file" etc does actually happen occasionally!0 -
so sorry to hear that but the right thing will come along.
i once had an interview which went amazingly well asking when i could start etc.
they had one other girl to interview after me and they said unless she is superwoman the job is yours.
i didnt get the job so i guess she must have been superwoman - lol x0
