Thanks all for your help.
I've decided I couldn't live with the fuel consumption of the car, or the danger of it! But otherwise I like the car. Four wheel drive is good for snow, and the boot is big and everything else does what I need. I also couldn't afford to change car again
Luckily I live close to a subaru specialist, so I took it to him and explained the situation. Because the einge in mine is worth quite a lot to someone, he's agreed to swap it for the 1.6 engine from a low milage crashed car for free. It's going in next week and the work should take a week, so all in all I'm really happy because I should get more miles to the fill up, and the car won't be dangerous any more and It won't cost me anything to sort out (apart from a bus pass for a week!)
I drive a 400+ bhp Merc. It isn't dangerous because I know how to drive it.
Something tells me the OP, being completely unaware of so much, would be extremely dangerous in anything they drove.
It is going to cost you an absolute fortune in specialist insurance because of the engine swap.
What an idiot!!Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Best troll post of 2012!
OP have the dealer fit a lawnmower engine instead of the 1.6, even better MPG."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

1.6 in a car that size? Good luck getting any power out of that!
As mentioned your insurance is going to be a pain now and you'll need to be sure that it's all done properly - IE speedo and gearbox rev counter is correct etc. I suppose the specialist will know it inside out so you should be ok but be sure to ask them if they know any good insurers.
I suppose at least if you're happy with it, thats the main thing and its a good outcome.0 -
If I believed this thread, I would probably say "good luck selling that on".0

Just do not do it!!!
Its not worth it. You can surely get so many better cars for your purpose with the money you get after selling this one.I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0
