I'm actually talking about how much "harm" short journeys do to a diesel. For a start there's the DPF (which needs longer journeys), then you've got the EGR gunking up (far worse in a diesel than a petrol), those two will give a sharp cut in MPG.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Ive driven many diesel wagons with choke levers, Dads Pajero has a choke lever.
Sometimes called a hand throttle, But restricted range.
Had one on a lorry you could use it like cruise control. The problem was when you braked
it wouldnt slow down.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Oh, sorry! The vectra was a 1.8 and I used to put £30 a week into it. The new car is a Subaru WRX I think, an it's a 2004 estate car. I'm putting about £50 to £70 a week in it and I just don't know what to do. Can I take the car back because the dealer said it would be good on fuel?0

A Subaru WRX...? Google will tall you it does low 20s mpg. It's not April the first yet!
I would not have trusted a dealer on this point and its not a reason to return the car. Convert to lpg?0 -
But..................
You have to drive like a saint to get reasonable MPG from a Scoob WRX..... Best it does with that 2.5 lump is around 27mpg, more like low 20's in real life.
It'll get better as the weather warms up, but you'll probably drive it harder too
Then again, a more economical car of the same year would probably have cost a lot more..... So there's your fuel money right there“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Sorry mate, Scoobs are mentally expensive to run; I know this as I have one. Get ready to remortgage your house as soon as you need the cambelt service!0

Dealers will say anything to shift stock that's not in demand...... Right now everyone wants small Diesels.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
