  • next op will say it has a pink STI badge on the boot with UK300 on it.

you surely must of had some idea of what type of car this was from the increase in insurance to the massive tax banding, to seeing these things shift down the road with a massive deep rumble? yo seeing adverts with them in the WRC rally.

prodrive pack also have several upgraded features form standard spec that you can only obtain from subaru themselfs.

scooby's are ok if you have the money to keep them running. look on ebay at how many are being sold that only been owned for less than six months and have 24 previous keepers. their not cheap by allmeans in all aspects of owning a car.

Well, I was discussing this with a colleague today, and they said similar to whats been said here, that Imprezas use a lot of fuel. I said I didn't know why because they're not that fast so he suggested we go for a drive at lunchtime. I don't normally drive fast at all but he said to keep it in second and floor the throttle :o I have to say I think its ridiculous that they make cars like that. It's dangerous! So scared to think I've had my DS in the car with me. I'm definately selling it now ,driving it home I felt like I was walking on egg shells!

Don't even want to look at the car now. I'll see if I can sell it myself, if not then i'll have to go back to the dealer.

Brilliant! Best thread of the week, I am crying with laughter. I believe my signature more and more every day. Well done Joe- you have entertained us!
  • Sorry mate .

Your choice of car made me smile and giggle in my boring car stuck in traffic on my way to job from hell.

I'm sure one day you will look back and too have a smile and laugh.
    Best of luck .

I thought turbo's lend themselves to improved fuel economy, my petrol turbo golf is pretty damn reasonable on fuel at least hitting high 20s but more often low to mid 30s mpg.

Thats true but only against an engine of a larger size. EG you may get the performance of a 2.5L engine out of a 2L.

It doesn't work the other way around - making a bigger engine more efficient than a smaller one.

So the next time you see some arrogant chap in his 4x4 mitusubishi pickup that sounds like it has a hurricane under his bonnet, just remember, he really does have more money to waste than you.

I'm actually talking about how much "harm" short journeys do to a diesel. For a start there's the DPF (which needs longer journeys), then you've got the EGR gunking up (far worse in a diesel than a petrol), those two will give a sharp cut in MPG.
Loving all the TLA's in use on this post :D

    Thanks all for your help.

I've decided I couldn't live with the fuel consumption of the car, or the danger of it! But otherwise I like the car. Four wheel drive is good for snow, and the boot is big and everything else does what I need. I also couldn't afford to change car again
Luckily I live close to a subaru specialist, so I took it to him and explained the situation. Because the einge in mine is worth quite a lot to someone, he's agreed to swap it for the 1.6 engine from a low milage crashed car for free. It's going in next week and the work should take a week, so all in all I'm really happy because I should get more miles to the fill up, and the car won't be dangerous any more and It won't cost me anything to sort out (apart from a bus pass for a week!)

    It just gets better.

    Doesn't it just.

OP will now have a car that's almost impossible to sell and the main street insurance companies won't touch it.
