Second Hand car using too much fuel!
Hi there, I was wondering what to do about this problem. We bought a new car a couple of months ago to replace our trusty Vectra after it failed its MOT. The problem is It's getting really bad on fuel, I'm having to fill it up every week and I don't go far!
The dealer said it was good on fuel but I don't think it is, we just wanted an estate car and something a bit newer... What can we do?

those 43 cylinder estate cars you have bought were never any good
surprised you bought one
did the seller wear a tonto mask when you filled in the paperwork?0 -
Is it diesel and are you doing short journey's?
Diesels are terrible if you only every go 4 mile down the road.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

No mention of the make model, year, fuel type, what mpg??
We're not mind readers!0 -
So what engine size and fuel type was the Vectra, and what MPG did you get out of it?
Same questions for the new car."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

You've got that wrong. Its petrols that are terrible if you do short journeys because they're running a richer mix because they're cold. You never saw a choke on a diesel.0 -

your out of touch im afraid
petrols for short commutes are better than diesels these days
always were really if you think about it
diesels having carp like thermostats on the intake connected by bits of wax whereas petrols had joe pushing the choke in to save a bob
this was 1982
nothing changes really
paid £1.42 for a litre of diesel today
and the cashier wasnt wearing a mask:D0 -
