Dear MoneySavers,
Please Help!
Thinking I was saving myself a Bomb i splashed out on a new Nokia 1600 at Asda - only £19.97! Not bad - Thinking I would be able to unlock it?
Apparently not so! I have read that it is amongst a number of new issue phones that the codes cannot be sourced and although they are cheap, they cannot be unlocked.
I downloaded a couple of code generators and plugged two in without any success - this means I have 3 more trys!
Your assistance would be fab?!!
FYI
NOKIA 1600
Provider - Asda PAYG
code: 0529346
IMEI: 354528012887974
Many thanks

I'm pretty sure asda are using vodafones network so have a look at this code, if you have tried it then dont enter it
#pw+830 411 451 701 202+7#
If you have tried it then use this one
#pw+839 091 451 701 202+7#
With no sim in the phone0 -

No free codes for this and would not try doing it by cable as I am 99% sure you have to connect to a server to unlock it so any dodgy software will **** your phone up.
:j Thank you so much for the advice, I am gonna try it. Cheers0 -

You guys might have a laugh at this.
I spoke to Orange the other day about unlocking a phone, how it's done, how long it takes to get the code, costs, etc, without admitting I'd already done it
The man I spoke to first said it is illegal, a criminal offence that might put someone in jail for up to 5 years.
I said I thought he had it confused with unblocking, after a phone had disabled after being lost or stolen, and that a contractual arrangement between Orange and the customer could not be a criminal offence, just for wanting to use a different SIM card.
He insisted, so I asked where on the Orange website I could find these changes in terms and conditions, and when he said it wasn't on there, asked what was his source - BBC2 News apparently, and I should contact my local Police station for confirmation.
Eventually I got put through to someone in ordinary customer services who said the other bloke was talking complete nonsense, and agreed when I suggested a message was sent back to his manager in the billing department.

Phewwwwww !!!! I was thinking I was going to get sentanced to 5 years of watching my little bum in the shower, I've unlocked thousands of phones in the past, some people on customer services will try this as a little trick to stop customers from unlocking there phones, tesco have some crap in there warranty that if you unlock a phone with a code it will break the warranty which is a load of crap ! The phone companys try charging more and more for unlocking phones and hate people like us who will do it for free or as little as poss.0 -
