Hello folks, I've just had a Nokia 3120 given to me and I need to unlock it - it is an orange phone and I want to put a T-Mobile pay as you go in it

I have a Nokia 3310 on Vodaphone Pay As You Go. It is only used occasionally and only to a couple of numbers. Tesco's standard tariff would be a better buy for me as you can have half price calls (i.e. 10p pm instead of 20p pm) to 3 favourite numbers. I use it so little that it's not worth paying to have it unlocked.

I'm a total numbskull when it comes to anything technical and have a fear of the word "download" as this has caused major computer problems in the past and has put me off for life!

Can anyone give me an idiot's guide to unlocking my phone and changing my sim card?

The serial number thingy is 353760000452047.

Power the phone on with no simcard in it and enter this code

#pw+3439682335+2#

to get the + sign you press the * key twice
to get the letter p press the * key 3 times
to get the letter w press the * key 4 times

It should say phone restriction off when you enter the final # digit of the code

Thank you Jaymarsh. Now, remember I said I'm a numbskull so please be patient if I'm asking a silly question.

I put in the above code with no simcard in my phone.

Can I then put my old Vodaphone Pay As You Go simcard back in to finish off the last bit of credit.

When that credit's gone, I then put in the new Tesco card and follow Tesco's instructions to keep my present number?

yes - if its now unlocked then you can use any network sim card you want - except 3
