    They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
    Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

    I visited Aldi store in Bangor (North Wales) and failed to see the car parking notices, and recieved a Parking charge notice from Parking Eye, for £40, stating that I had failed to enter my vehicle registration in the terminal inside the store to qualify for free parking!!!. I was at this store for 30 mins, They claim that their are signs around the car park clearly stating this at the entrance and though out the car park! I must have been blind to have missed them, This appears to be a new way of making sure that customers use the store! I did use the store spending about £10, but this has turned out to be the most expensive shopping trip to an AldI store!!!

    I suppose it would be better to cut my loses and pay the £40, rather than waiting for it to reach £70 then plus Liability for further charges!

    I normally shop at the Mill street AlDI in Llangefni, Anglesey, when visiting this part on North Wales, but being as it was rather late, I made the fatal mistake of turning of the A55 for Bangor!

    I shall phone Aldi on Monday stating my gross dissatisfaction, and will from now on avoid using Aldi stores, As I did use them on a regular basis. The Lidl store i my local town of Denbigh, has a 2 hour limit but I have always been OK with that. So LIDLs look for more custom from now on.

    Take notice of all the advice around this forum, just ignore the letter and don't, under any circumstances pay it!

    Did you actually bother to read the thread you've appended your post to :huh:? I can't believe you have if you're actually considering paying.

    Woah !!!!!! Have you actually read anything on here ??????

    Don't pay the scammers a penny !!!!!! Just IGNORE them.
    All aboard the Gus Bus !
  • Totally agree with the last poster. I had this a few months ago, and I followed the advice here. Ignored the letters, after the third one they stopped writing and that was that. They wouldn't risk taking anyone to court because it might be shown that the their charges are not actually legally enforecable.

    Don't be daft! Read the rest of the forum, you have not got a real fine! :eek:

    But whilst ignoring the fake PCN and letters, do complain to Aldi about this protection racket attempt at extorting money under false pretences.
    PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    If you pay the £40 they will come back asking for more money citing late fees and all sorts of rubbish.

    Exactly the same thing has happened to me, Wydene! I parked in ALDI Bangor on 6th September for a grand total of 35 minutes, just to go to the bank and pay in a cheque. (Dawdled a bit window shopping and had a fag both ways.) The 1 and a half hour time limit has been in place there for years and I've been parking there for years, so I knew I'd be okay as long as I didn't exceed that limit (I did once, years ago, and was happy to cough up on that occasion as I accepted that I had been in the wrong as I was fully aware of the limit - sent the pigs a postal order though, as I wasn't going to let them have my bank details!!!).

    Anyway today (17th) I've had a nice "invoice" from them (dated the 13th), with the usual photos in and out, saying that I basically had no right to park there at all ("Time Allowed: 0 hours 0 minutes"), because I didn't enter my registration number!

    "The signage, which is clearly displayed at the entrance to and throughout the car park, states that this is private land and that all customers must enter their registration (using the terminal inside) to qualify for free parking or the Parking Charge displayed will apply, along with other terms and conditions of the car park by which those who park in the car park agree to be bound.
    By remaining at the car park for longer than was made permitted, in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the signage, the Parking Charge detailed below is now payable by the driver."

    Parking Charge Amount: £70.00
    Payment to be made by: 11/10/2012
    A discount is available if payment of this Parking Charge is made and received within 13 days of the issue date. *
    £40.00 IF PAID BY Wednesday 26 September 2012" *

    *in other words, 9 days, as I only received this Parking Charge today!!!

    Now as I said, I'm fully aware of the time limit of 1 and half hours, but this ridiculous business of having to "clock in" must be a recent change, as it certainly wasn't the case last time I used this car park (which I admit was a while ago)! I'm very curious as to exactly when it was brought in, but the point is:
    a) The signs pointing out the change of policy were obviously NOT as clear as ParkingEye make out;
    b) I was well within the time limit, therefore they can hardly cry loss of earnings;
    c) If this charge is the same as what they give to those who exceed the time limit, then it is grossly unfair. Why not have a "sliding scale" of charges instead?

    I'm tempted to write ParkingEye a polite letter of appeal pointing out these things, saying that I would be willing to pay a proportionate charge (say, £10-£20), and giving them my assurance that, in future, I will make sure to check the signs every time I park on private land, to see if there have been any changes to the terms and conditions. But from what everyone on this forum has been saying about ParkingEye, it seems I would be completely wasting my time (and money) and might as well write to a brick wall instead?

    Give that man a banana :j

    Seriously though - save your money, including any that you might waste on stamps. You'll only make them think they've got you panicked enough to consider paying up.
