afternoon all
just had a phone call from the mrs who has a customer whose daughter was issued with a parking charge by pe by overstaying in an aldi car park by 16mins (aldi washed their hands of it). Told her to ignore it and what to expect through the post and to visit this forum for advice as well.
Trying to spread the word:)

I've just come home to a ticket from Parking Eye and Aldi, I was there for 46 mins and 2 seconds! I thought the parking limit was an hour? The letter states you can only park there for 0 hours and 0 minutes?!0

Well done Hammer! Martyne, Hammer has told you what to do, ignore it completely, and maybe go back to Aldi and tell them that since there is a parasite in the car park you won't be shopping with them any more.
That way it's a double whammy for them- bye bye fine, and bye bye customer!0 -
My housemate has just had one of these from Parking Eye today; exactly the same, "0 hours". I'm debating whether to the follow the above advice (ignore it), or write a letter like this person did: http://whatastate.org.uk/car-parking-penalties
All thoughts welcomed on which approach might have more chance of success!0 -

Its much simpler to ignore them altogether!;)0 -
The only advantage to writing may be to cut short the letter chain they will send you. But this is not beneficial as it saves THEM postage while costing you a stamp. Let them waste their money.
However, if the strategic objective is to reel them in and sue them, then that's another matter. But otherwise, ignore is easy and works.0 -
I received a ticket today also from Aldi's Parking Eye. It too stated that you can park for 0 hours 0 minutes. I was parked for 40 mins and only shopped in Aldi and I still have the receipt with times printed on it. My mistake was that I forgot to enter my car registration on exiting the store. Very cross, and I shall just ignore it.0

Very wise course of action. Do Aldi have too many customers? They seem desperate to shed some?0

Might be worth getting the planning permission to see if Aldi has to provide parking for longer than they are trying to claim.
If the council said they need to provide up-to 3 hours parkig for local shops and they are only saying 1 hour before Parking Pie invoice you than they are in breach of their planning permission and can get large penalities from the council.0 -
just because you did/did not enter your reg on exit does not justify this behaviour from the scum known as parking eye/spy/lie/pie,,you have not been ,,fined,, its a fake ticket and 100% scam,,,even if you did enter your reg on exit they will still come with this nonsense,,complain to the manager of aldi,,tell him/her you will not be shopping there again, hopefully if p e keep this up ,aldis takings will drop, then the store managers wil get the sack,,i have had more than one run in with my local manager, he is totally ,, not interested,, so i just spread the word with the shoppers there,,,ignore, full stop,, and all the threat o grams to follow from roxburghe( zero powers )debt collectors,,,and the phoney solicitor,,graham white,,they are all part of the same scam,, so do not worry.nothing will/can happen to you.0

I visited Aldi store in Bangor (North Wales) and failed to see the car parking notices, and recieved a Parking charge notice from Parking Eye, for £40, stating that I had failed to enter my vehicle registration in the terminal inside the store to qualify for free parking!!!. I was at this store for 30 mins, They claim that their are signs around the car park clearly stating this at the entrance and though out the car park! I must have been blind to have missed them, This appears to be a new way of making sure that customers use the store! I did use the store spending about £10, but this has turned out to be the most expensive shopping trip to an AldI store!!!
I suppose it would be better to cut my loses and pay the £40, rather than waiting for it to reach £70 then plus Liability for further charges!
I normally shop at the Mill street AlDI in Llangefni, Anglesey, when visiting this part on North Wales, but being as it was rather late, I made the fatal mistake of turning of the A55 for Bangor!
I shall phone Aldi on Monday stating my gross dissatisfaction, and will from now on avoid using Aldi stores, As I did use them on a regular basis. The Lidl store i my local town of Denbigh, has a 2 hour limit but I have always been OK with that. So LIDLs look for more custom from now on.0
