Amazing job on stopping smoking Mandz :T
I really found exercise helpful when i quit, and i actually lost weight while quitting :)
    Are you using NRT?

Keep up the good work :j

Haven't got round to jumping on the Wii for a weight in, will do it in the morning when im at my lightest :rotfl:

Im using nicotinell patches. Only problem is that halfway through the day, they start peeling at the edges and if i do exercise that makes me sweat, im scared they will fall off.

I have never got past 3 weeks when i have quit before. so hoping to get past that before starting on the exercise.

Cant seem to stop snacking, and its on rubbish stuff too, like chocolate:EasterBun

Wow, congratulations on the loss and joining a club Littleskintdragon!
Monkeynut - Losing a stone in a month would be amazing, I didn't think it would be possible, but after hearing your story maybe it will be! :j It's definitely a lot harder to be active with little ones around though, my DS2 is 18 months and has to walk everywhere or he has a huge (and very embarassing!) paddy, lol. Which slows us down a lot... and probably makes me rely on the car more than I should :o.

Durham Mim - Good luck with the diet :) I would definitely recommend a low carb diet, I really enjoy it and feel so much better for it. It can be expensive, but I find that Lidl is a great place to stock up on meat (and veg!) - it's cheaper, and better quality than you would get for the same price elsewhere :) Eggs are also great for low carbing as they can be really cheap nowadays, but are really filling.

Congratulations Mandz! You're doing great! Have you tried the chewing gum? When I quit last time I used Boots mint version and found it more effective than the patches. As rather than a constant stream of nicotine, they were like a 'hit' when you need it - which was more like smoking, and I think chewing on the gum also helped replace some of the snacking.

I weighed myself last weekend and I was 13st 3lb the most I've ever been even when pregnant!:o My short term goal is to lose 4lb to get back into the 12's but my long term goal is to be 10st. I'm afraid I don't tend to lose weight quickly, usually just 1-2lb per month but I will be pleased at any weight loss especially if I can keep it off. 2 Christmas' ago I lost half a stone and weighed 11st 8lb since then I put it all back on + a few pounds am gutted. This time I am incorporating a little exercise. Dare'nt attempt anything much in case it upsets the ME but I seem to be doing ok with callenetics, so far. I can already feel a difference and know it is toning me up. I intend to weigh myself each Saturday.

  • Themoneyspider - I knew where they went from as I'd seen them when I take my dd to swimming lessons, wasn't sure how much they'd charge though but it turns out its £10 a year for imsurance! Can live with that. If u can't find one could u start your own? Would a couple of your friends start with u,on a couple of set days a week. I also want to join in the lose a some in a month, haven't really got a stone to lose because then I'd need new clothes!! but a few pounds would b nice. Well done everyone xx
Still here..... but working on that!

Now back to the really fattening birthday cake I'm finishing for my other half and tiffin, tomorrow I will be judged by his family on my cake baking skills. Nervous or what!!! :j

Bet you impressed the socks off them! :j

I never get the chance to bake any more as my OH hogs the kitchen - a new found talent on his part since we lost his mum last year and we found her old mixing bowl. My eyes sparkle when I see his creations (especially the cheesecakes!) but I won't sparkle much if I keep eating them....:rotfl:

I've not been sparkling much for the last couple of weeks due to over work and now a grotty cold, but maybe another good swim tonight will do me me the power of good.

Thanks everyone for the inspiration (and a bit of a shame factor when I don't do anything!). I might feel silly telling friends about my small achievements, but here, I feel completely at home!

Curtains washed and on the line, hair and face done even though my only excursion today is likely to be the post-office and the start of a bit of a sort out in the spare room later. All my spare change in the sparkle jar!
