Hi! i came across your post and it inspired me to create an account. I'm 24years old and in £6000 debt and i've been really low about it recently, trying to pave an acting career and wanting to move to London are not even pheasable right now and i hate that it's simply money getting in my way. I'm also preparing for a 10km run for charity on June 10th so this is perfect motivation for that. Any advice on how you've all been going about getting debt free would be amazing!! I know my debt is nothing compared to some of you, but it's still a daily struggle to cope with it.
Hi and welcome to MSE.
There are lots and lots of threads on MSE about the different ways have got debtfree.
One way is to start a diary, on the Debt-Free Wannabe diaries and create a statement of affairs. On the main board of Debt Free Wanabe there is a link to the SOA and how to get it and complete it.
Once you have completed it, you can put it in your diary. The helpful people on that board will come along and suggest ways in how to reduce your outgoings, and things you could manage to help decrease your debt.
We also have the Up Your Income thread with lots of ideas on how to make extra income, which you can throw at your debt.
There is a printable coupon thread, where you can use coupons to reduce your shopping bills, old style on how to cook from scratch, use less processed stuffs, and more store cupboard items, how to make your food go further by meal planning, etc.
There are lots of success stories on MSE
I would suggest a cup of tea/coffee, a notepad and start reading
A diary is good as we can pop along and support you and suggest things.
Good luck.0 -

I'm a newbie to this, but I'm hoping to sparkle too! After a serious spinal injury in 2010, my OH is taking to swimming (though probably wading!) for the first time tonight. Hoping for some cut price deals at the sport centre. I think I'll add my first £1 to my millionnaire-to-be fund - thanks for the idea!0

Oooo....despite my pooly back, I've somehow managed 20 lengths at the pool tonight - I know that it doesn't sound like much, but it's my first swim in about 15 years. I don't feel very sparkly at the moment, but I'm sure I'll get some benefit eventually.....:j(I wish I could do that!!) Cash about to land in the sparkle fund0
