CRB check is £80 now:eek:
wow!
That's what I was quoted, which makes it a no-go for temping, but there is one permanent job where they mention it along with other general reference checks and being a reasonably big firm, I'd assume they would pay for it themselves.
Today, dunno what happened, there was one last minute job which was the same temp one that a rival agency called me about yesterday, though it's got a start date of 2 weeks' time - I can't sit about earning nothing so there's 4 other permanent jobs shortlisted as well. Right now, it's whoever calls first with something that'll keep the money coming in regularly.
Once I'd had the adrenalin rush of the app on deadline today, I've really fought to be motivated, I'll do a bit more research on the best of those four with the company website and give it another go after dinner.0 -
Things have been very quiet with me. No phone calls, no emails, nothing. Just trying not to let it get me down. Before I got my last job I had gone down the route of freelancing, so I'm trying to pick that back up again but I'm not sure that'll go anywhere either.
Need to find the positivity and motivation again!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
I'm back in again, I have been laid off today. I knew it was coming but it's a bit unfortunate timing as I have just bought a car so I can learn in and pass test etc but I will get by somehow! It was a seasonal job (gardening company) and the season is over. I have plans to get back into the voluntary work and I have another course left to do so plenty planned, going to sign on tomorrow.0

My husband is still on his contract job but we have a holiday booked for a couple of weeks time which he hasn't yet told them about. We're wondering if they will use the holiday as a reason to finish his contract. He was told it would be 1-3 months work and it's gone over 3 already.
There seem to be far fewer suitable opportunities around now than last year, if anything the job situation seems to be getting worse not better.Make £2025 in 2025

Urgh. I'm getting rejection after rejection at the moment - just had one from Ingeus for failing the tekephone interview. I'm obviously doing something really wrong so perhaps need to step back and assess. But i hate my job and want to leave so badly I could cry.Emergency savings: 4600

Hello again. I'm back!!! My temporary contract has ended and I'm now unemployed again. I am really, really fed up. That's all I have to say!!!
Lexxx - Hope you see this - you mention that you are a Virgin customer and their calls are expensive. There is a company called First Telecom that you can join. They send you a little box that attaches to your phone line and you pay them the call charges and Virgin the line rental. Their call charges are substantially lower than Virgin's. I originally read about them on here but I can't find the post now.0 -
Horace - how did your interview go with Remploy?0

thanks for this info, but i dont use my home phone, i have mins on mobile that i use, if its not local call or mobile i dont call, email or letter will do. can not afford to spend anymore more on bills
There are so many places to look for jobs, the method of calling the job centre and giving them all your details and wait for job info is something i cant be arsed to do, i dont believe i have missed out on my 'dream job':o0 -
Well it looks as though the job market has got a lot worse around here. Am feeling really pessimistic about it at the moment. Not really sure what to do as no jobs to apply for today so nothing to do for the day.0

Hi all, can I join in? I'm currently signed off sick as I have health issues that affect my job (air crew) so am looking for something else as I can work fine, just not in the air!
I went for an interview friday through an agency and my feedback was awful: wasn't engaged in the interview, and turned my back on the interview.
My OH thinks i should call the agency to explain as I thought the intervew went well... but I'm really scared to!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16
