Good luck for tomorrow Drea.
Psycho - contact the agency and give your feedback about the interview.
Things are starting to look up for me since I took myself along to R*mploy rather than use the jobcentre's own DEA. I get help with jobsearch (they refund my bus fare for going into town to do it) and I have been put forward for a night shift at my local Sainsbugs (never worked nights in my life) as a shelf stacker, I am due to attend an MnS workshop with a view to a work trial for 2 weeks with a job at the end of it, put forward for a 16hr a week 6 month contract with a PR company and I was put forward for a telesales job, I had a telephone interview yesterday and I did so well that they didnt ask all the questions because I was so polite and professional on the phone. I have a 3hr group interview to look forward to on Monday morning. I am sort of looking forward to it because it is an interview and I last had an interview in September:eek: but kind of not because I don't think that I am that good at selling and I wasnt really looking for call centre work (but hey a job is a job and it is better than the dole).
I have a role play exercise to do as well and have already been sent the scenario so I need to formulate a 10 minute script, I have a vague idea of what to say and will probably wing it on the day rather than draw up a set piece now.
Does anyone know what else I should expect? It is working for the global firm Teleperformance. Any tips would be appreciated.0 -
I have had a total of 1 job to apply for in the last 2 weeks. I've got bad tonsilitus at the moment and my voice keeps going so had to cancel interview as couldn't even speak on Tuesday. My work programme lady was going to try reschedule it with them but they would have had 100s of people interested (new very large pub that is opening) so think they've said no. I didn't think they would have been impressed when I said I couldn't be there when the pub opens or evenings or Sundays or Bank Holidays, stupid buses. My worst problem is still no full driving license, I have a car that I am learning in but need to redo theory and seems pointless to have lessons when I was up to test standard, £42 for 2 hour lessons when for £42 I can drive about 300+ miles in the car! I'm so depressed about it all to be honest, it's so much worse around here now, the jobs that appear are all really obscure things or very few hours or weird hours!0

Thanks all, I'm feeling ok about it now, have had a few practices and I think I can pull it off. I just worry even if I get the job, I've been told by my OH who works there that he just found out they'll check references for past 6 years (one of mine isn't great) and will do a credit check (I don't think the CCJ is going to make me look very good) so it's probably all for nothing anyway.
But I'll go through the motions and see what happens.
I know what you mean though, it's been horrible applying for jobs. I've had a couple of rejection emails but heard nothing apart from that. The only reason this job has come up is because the OH works there.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

If nothing else Drea, it'll be good practice for you but you never know.
Good luck with it.0 -
Another delightful trip to the Job Centre, they pretty much told me that I had no chance of getting a job anytime soon as it's really bad here as if I hadn't noticed but then apparently everyone is in the same situation which has made me feel a lot better.. not lol.0

Well, I have been to sign on today - always a demoralising exercise but I walked in there with a beaming smile because I have an interview on Monday. I had only been home for 15 mins when my landline rung it was the jobcentre (I had this horrible sinking feeling dunno why) anyway I need not have worried as they rang to tell me about a 16 week temporary job that is coming up and suggested that I apply for it by ringing them on Monday (will have to do this after my interview). This could lead to a permanent job in the civil service if I am successful.
I am wondering if there is anything wrong with the universe as all of a sudden I seem to be getting favourable responses after months and months of completely nothing despite hundreds of hours spent looking for work without success - is it because I have registered with R*mploy and I am no longer being discriminated against on grounds of disability - it makes you wonder doesnt it?
I keep working on my pitch for Monday but I might just wing it instead as I can sometimes overthink things.0 -

So on Friday I was told I had to attend a advisor interview on Monday morning, which could last up to an hour. It lasted 3 minutes, he just made me sign for a letter saying I was to go back on the work programme , that was it. Not sure why I couldn't do that on Friday.0

Despite an early rise and two apps done this morning I'm annoyed with myself that the signoff for my covering letter was duplicated on the second app as it's automatically stored - I didn't hit the stop button in time when uploading the application so I have to cross that one off the list, they'll see that error and ditch the app outright. It was on deadline so had probably gone but I could kick myself for it.
The only reason for that repetition was the correction of a job title in my CV where one of the words didn't need to start with a capital letter, but it just led to another mistake. That's proof that you can be too over-zealous! Annoying, because I really liked the sound of that job but have to move on. Corrected it by creating a new empty cover letter template to go with the new CV and that won't happen again. Still, if it happened with a job on deadline then I know to always give a cover letter a final final check before clicking send in future.0
