when you put it like that its a no brainer. You have already said that they are just using people they have made redundant in order to avoid agency fees/interviewing costs.
Unless you think that it could eventually lead to you being taken back on full time then don't let them mess you around like that. Go on holiday, enjoy the break and come back refreshed and ready to throw all your efforts back into searching for a perment job
I agree with this. Go enjoy your holidayJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
I phoned them this morning they said call us after your holiday and we will see what we got. Funny thing was I had to go to Job centre today and saw most of the people I used to work with so they must have no work! I informed job centre of holiday and have to sign on on the Monday after,0

Hi peoples
I thought I'd join in too!
I'm Selina, just got let go in April after 6 months Supported Housing work, that was after being let go last February as well  I have a degree, 7 years mental health work experience, 2 years generalist advisor, qualified Benefits Officer, full knowledge of property management, 4 weeks of JSA Contributions left and I cant get a flipping job
Cant even remember how many jobs I've gone for, but jost applied for 6 today. Had 2 HomeCare job interviews, was turned down for one because too qualified and the other because I hadnt told them about a hospital appointment in 2 weeks time. Have resigned myself to getting a job that pays 6k a year less than last years and applying for just about anything, except telesales and cold calling, just cant do that!
If anyone has any ideas about what else I can do that would be, other wise I'm going to have a little whinge (whinge) There done! :rotfl:0 -
Remember Selina that when your contributions based JSA runs out that you can apply for income based JSA.
Keep plugging away - it is what I do, I am just back from signing on and got a funny look when I said that I was having a skype interview with someone later this afternoon. At least I am starting to slowly get interviews after months with nothing.0 -
Have you approached any agencies for support work? (other than home care). There will always be some support work about?.
Are you checking your council vacancies theres things on mine you could go for e.g learning support assistant in a school etc.
i've also seen jobs for lettings agents- could you apply for those?0 -
I have an interview tomorrow afternoon for a part time telesales job (a job that could become a fulltime one in the future). I thought I had stuffed up my telephone interview with them as I had to apologise and cut the call short as I was called into my workshop with MnS. Seems I need not have worried as I have been called in for a face to face interview.
I had a telephone interview today with the supermarket that begins with M (that Freddie Flintoff advertises) - not sure how I did with that but I am not holding my breath as to be honest I do not want to work weekends or do shift work.0 -
well done Horace,:T fingers crossed you get the one you want.
I manage to send of 7 job applications today, CVs & cover letters.
It is friggying hard work getting myself outta the funk i have been feeling.... oh well i have to get back on the horse:(0 -
Lexxx I know what you mean, I have to snap back into it even though I've got pre-Jubilee pay coming on Friday, major respect for being able to get back to applying straight away post-Jubilee but I got on with some errands I needed to do, which were interrupted by that work last week, plus the usual bank holiday cleanup.
I can restart by updating the CV first of all anyway and that should ease me back into it. I'm actually happy there's no more bank holidays until August now, no reason to have an interruption to the apps aside from actually getting a job.0 -
I decided to extend my search to London as there is nothing much going in the county, but I don't even know where to start. I found a few job sites but all the listings are from agencies which is bad enough for local searches but when location is listed as 'London' the mind just boggles - it's a pretty big place! And it is much harder to find out who the employer is as there are so many businesses in London. Anyone have a recommended job site for London jobs, maybe one that doesn't use agencies? Seems pretty pointlesss to apply when I can't research the company properly, how would I know it is even a place I would like to work (location and job wise) Plus I search a specific job title and I get 200 pages to sift through, although a lot of them are the same adverts repeated again and again by different agencies... it is stressing me out, after a bad day at work today I just want to get out as quickly as I can, don't see that happening somehow!0
