its to check up on you to see if you did apply for the job and if you don't they can sanction you :(

I told her I wouldn't bother then and hung up lol. Just as well I'm not applying for benefits!
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

Well done to those that have landed jobs.

I am getting thoroughly sick of applying and either getting knockbacks or being ignored altogether. Last week the jobcentre told me to apply for a job (my advisor printed out the details), I emailed my CV across with a covering letter and 20 mins later received a rejection email so I rang them up - the girl on the phone was rather flustered and said that she never looked at the CV so I asked why I was rejected if she never looked at the CV after much umming and ahhing she decided that the MD (who wasnt in) had seen the CV and rejected me. I queried how someone with 27 year's admin experience could be rejected for an admin job? No answer to that one - seems I wasnt the only person who was rejected as a flag has been put on the job by the jobcentre. My local jobcentre have also said that ageism seems to be at work too because although I am applying for loads of jobs I am not getting anywhere and it is the same for other signers who are 50 years old and above.

I rang Remploy today to see if they can help me find work as I feel my disability is holding me back. Initially they said that I needed to see my DEA but I refuse to have anything to do with the DEA at my jobcentre (this is for historical reasons) but they have agreed that I meet with them on Thursday especially as I am not under any work programme with the jobcentre. Fingers crossed I will be able to get something that way.

Just tried to phone that Job seeker number to get the details of how to apply for a job. They were asking me all sorts, NI number, date of birth, address, previous address.... so I asked why they wanted to know this information. And she got proper stroppy at me for "talking over her".

So... why DO they need that information? I wasn't very comfortable giving them so much info just to apply for a job!

It really is annoying, all thoses question, It costs me a fortune when i call because it takes them so long to go through the 'script'
I am with virgin media, but i think it might be cheaper to call on mobile!
I dont call any more, because alot of times the job has gone, or I am given incorrect info.

I am in the same position as you right now, so I know exactly what you mean, the last full time job i had, i nearly lost my mind, with all the politics and bullying that was going on.

I had told myself i would not go back into same type of job.... I have, not got much choice right now, but its a part time role...so fingers crossed, it wont be the same type of crazy

Just got a call out of the blue from a guy I went for an interview with a few weeks back, he had offered me a job but I didn't take it as it was part time when needed, but he's looking to forward my CV on to a guy he know who needs a full time worker with my back round, I got kind of friendly with the guy so hope he puts in a good word for me but won't hold my breath but its a start.

i got through to teh final training week for a nursing / carer role - but backed out cos I hadnt weighed teh pros and cons -- 3 months live in didnt sound gd to me after thinking about it -being on beck and call of someone 24 7 - teh offer still stands -0 anyone have any exp of these roles |?

im applying for my pco license so basically have to wait 3 months till i can drive for a living - only praying alot that there is work around - when it comes through - though there does seem ot be alot around -

ive been self studying and self employed as a web designer for last 3 years so my cv is a bit bare -- also takes its tole on the old self esteem -
but its teh same thing people like bannatyne say , people cant realise how youll benefit from your own business esp at the job centre
in many ways the easiest thing is to get a job - which is what im doing now -

how have you found it in london ?- ive applied to all teh jobs i can and been to a few interviews teh only one that worked out so far was teh carer job

good luck with your job hunting
