I've just booked a bargain Butlins holiday for £230 but it's going to cost me £150 for someone to look after all the animals!

    That is it.....

God forbid I even THINK of going anywhere:

Dog boarding (home stay) £25 per day

Cat's visting £10-£12 per day (for 20 min twice per day max 3 cats + £2 extra for each additional cat)

    £35-£37 per day....

So... I am staying put LOL

Watching this thread has made me realize how lucky I am to have a couple of un-fussy cats who will eat anything that's put in front of them.

1/3 of a tin of Whiskas and a handful James Wellbeloved every day and they seem quite happy. I reckon it's costing about £7.50/month each. Recently started alternating Whiskas with Sainbury's Basics so it's going to cost even less.

I'm not counting the bits of tuna and meat that head their way though. That comes off my sandwiches bill.

Well, second day of Zara looking at me with that "why mu, WHY????" each time she has a sniff of Skinners in her bowl.... sigh....

Added some Orijen, mixed it... no good.

Added some stocl after boiling a bit of turkey - no good.

Yesterday she was nto really starving as them lot had a packet of chicken wings to share. Zara is not that keen on wings BUT she likes them after the cats had them... she likes the "leftovers".

So Macius and Fred were both growling with their whole wings (Macius had 4 in the end, Fred had 3 - whole ones), Teddy and George had one each but I had to take the skin off for them first... then Zara finished all the wings off after the cats

    Today she had absolutely nothing....

Yesterday caught her eating cat's dry food, she has never done it before - she was always only interested in cat's wet food. But as she needs to lose weight, had to reposition the dry food and now my cats eat on the kitchen counter... Good I live by mself and whoever comes to visit has own cats/dogs so nobody shocked about cats on the kitchen counter - this was the only place that cats can get on but Zara can not...

Tomorrow will be Skinners in a bowl day 3.. sigh...

    Keep it up GR!

She must give in soon, surely!

What about trying some normal thick bisto-type gravy on top of it? I know they shouldn't really eat it because of the salt etc but a one off surely wouldn't be too bad?

Wowwwwwwwwwwww... Oko PLus works out at 1.20 per kg !!!!!!!

Just put the 10 litres bag on the scales and it is 4.8 kg, needed to know in kg to compare the price to others...

So 40litre bag would be 19.2kg and at £23 works out at
    £1.20 per kg.

The most expensive version of Golden Grey works out at 0.86 per kg..... Hmmmm

Let's see how long a 10kg bag of Oko Plus lasts - that will be the real test... as if 40 litre bag lasts me a month - it is a winner, if not.. going back to Golden Grey/Grey Master

Zara still hates me for Skinners.....I have a feeling she will never get used to it...

Tried putting in some stock etc - yes, she will have it but she only eats at night now....The bowl is full there all day/evening, empty in the morning...

I would be very surprised if it doesn't last you a month... 40L lasts me well over two months with all my lot using 3 large trays ;). It might sound silly, but you can't really compare weight as it takes much less weight of OKO to fill a tray than it does a litter like Golden Gray, so the volume of OKO goes further IYSWIM?

Yup, noticed that already - expected the 10 litre bag to be needed for one tray as it looked such a tiney bag but put in half a bag actually and it was enough...

Are your tray as massive as my trays though? LOL

Glad you worked out all the costings GR :D

Would be interested to know how long the bag lasts (please!) and I may give it a try ..... currently using up my emergency winter stash of litter (on the bus for 3 weeks last year in the snow & no deliveries could get through - so I prepared this year;)) but may give it a go when I run out of that.
