2 cats and a Great Dane here.
£60 a month on food (average)
£25 a month on insurance.
£10ish a month on litter.
£15 worming a month (Roughly. Advocate for dog and Drontal quarterly for all). I rarely use spot ons for the cats.
£10ish a month treats/toys.
So, around £120 a month.
Worth every penny though!0 -
So are you ' expecting' a particular breed?
I breed British shorthair silver tabbies and spotteds (like the Whiskas ad cats).I've always had rescue moggies..but toy with the idea of a pedigree at times ,haven't as yet,it's not so much the cost...whenever I have an 'animal gap' I always end up hearing of kittens needing rescue.
I started off 'looking after' a friend's cat who was moving then, she couldn't keep it in her new place, then we inherited my partner's gran's cat, then had a cat from the Cats Protection, but then I had a yen for a British blue, we had two of those, then our first silver tabby. This is over the last 25 years though.0 -

Well, we have a new dog walker from the 30th...
Went for a walk today, he was very confident handling Zara, she listened to him and all good.
And a massive saving of £100 per month as he is only charging £130 per calandar month when my current dog walker was 230-230 per month at static £10 per hour....
Need to recalculate everything now....heheh
If I could put up with the OkoPLus mess.... sigh.....perhaps I will stick to it....
Opened a 40 litre bag on the 20th March I think, still got half a bag left - that is with 4 cats that ONLY pee/poo indoors and at £23 per bag that i
s £11.50 per month rather then the £40 I was spending on Golden Grey... sighhhhhhh0 -
Revision again:
Zara:
Food - Skinners, 15kg bag lasts 42 days and (costs £24.00 t VetUK with delivery) so monthly works out at around £18 per month
Insurance - £48
Dog walker - £ 130 per month
Ester C (3 for 2 at Boots at £19 lasts 2 months) £10.00 per month
Salmon Oil, bottle (£23) lasts 2 months so £12.50 per month
Flea treatment £11.40 (4 months supply Advantage from AnimeDirect) so £3
Worming - Drontal, £4.10 from AnimedDirect, every 3 months so £1.40 per month
Together Zara (no treats/new collar etc, just the basic upkeep) £223.00 per month
Cats:
Litter, Oko PLus, 40 liters from Zooplus around £24, lasts 2 months (I think) so £12.00 per month
Insurance for the 4 of them - £42
Cats dry food - no idea as got enough for the next 10 years at home
Cats wet food – 10x6 tins of Classic from Asda £26.00
Cats worming drontal - around 1.5 per tablet, 4 tablets £6 every 3 months so £1.50 per month
Cats flea treatment - Advantage, £9.50 per month
Cats total (no dry food/toys etc) £91.00 per month
Together - £314 per month on my lot.....down from nearly £500…0 -
That's a good saving
I ought to recalculate Tyson but I don't dare as I know at the moment just his vets etc is at least £70 a week!!
That doesn't include food or anything
I calculated my goldfish though...
1 tub of food £0.99p lasts approx 3 months = 33p per month0 -
That is FANTASTIC. Well done you. :Tgettingready wrote: »Revision again:

However, if you spend £6 on your worming for your cats every 3 months, that is £2 a month.
Which Drontal worming tablet do you use? The normal one or the XL version for cats over 4 kg. Your cats look quite big, just wondered if they are over 4 kg.
If you don't know, I use a luggage hand held balance, the ones like digital spring balance, with a strap on the bottom. I put my cat in a carrier, weight him / her then weigh the carrier. They are accurate to 10g. The I know if they are having the right dose of wormer.0
