Hope thats clear, I'm not a techie.

This thread is just what I need. I have read with interest, only in the last couple of days realising what BB cream was!!
I am in my 40's, have lines, I am a red head with a red, freckled complexion. I want to tone down the redness and smooth wrinkles whilst looking natural. I don't mind a bit of shine. I like to look fresh, like I haven't really done anything. At the mo I just wear a bit of Olay tinted moisturiser but this can be a bit heavy and I have to be careful not to apply too much.
I thought I might go for the skin79 vip gold super plus bb cream. Does this sound about right for me?

My Skin79 arrived about 10 minutes after my last post:T I cleansed and put it straight on, first impressions are that you need very little, it goes a long way even more so than the Pink, the colour is much more yellow based and it is still very pale, it has much more pigment and a thicker consistency that is harder to spread, so you would need to work more quickly, the patting method worked very well. All red areas are completely covered with one application (I did use a bit too much but coverage is excellent) and even my dark circles are covered. It feels drier on the skin than the Pink and is indeed matte but not flat matte, I have oily skin and am now just having softening of the product on my T Zone which looks nice, not greasy like I found the Pink, just glowing. I wouldn't need or want to do my foundation trick with this but as its pale I put on a touch of Hoola because I have a tan atm, this worked well as the product is matte the powder bronzer didn't go patchy like with the Pink, so tomorrow I will use a bit less but so far I'm really happy:beer:
I'm going to attempt pics in the next post shortly, I'm happy to answer any questions:)All power is from within and therefore under our control0 -
My first pic is of the 3 BB Creams I have straight from the tube, the top one is Maybelline in light, the middle one is Skin79 Hot Pink and the bottom one is Skin 79 in Hot Orange

The second picture is the three BB creams blended in

The third is after the 3 creams have oxidized for about 10 minutes

The fourth pic is of some Revlon Colourstay as it has been mentioned in this thread as a comparison, I found the consistency much thicker and more slippery almost oily compared to the BB creams and I have been a Colourstay user for a long time. Top colour is Ivory, middle is Buff and bottom is Sand beige.

I like the Skin79 Orange as it plays down my pinkness and dd likes the Skin79 Hot Pink as it brightens her yellow tones, she used to use MAC NC13 - HTH:)
Huge thanks to CompBunny for that marvelous site and excellent instructions, I'm sure I shall be pic mad now:D:TAll power is from within and therefore under our control0 -
Oh my word Hughj, you have been working hard
Thanks soooo much for posting this, its a huge help to me and I'm sure it will be for others watching the thread. It sounds like it is a little more tricky to apply than the pink but the coverage sounds awesome. Is this the one for you now then? :T Or are you tempted to be naughty and try some more?:p
...the only problem is, you have made me want to buy Orange too now  But I must be good and wait for my Holika Holika Clearing and fresh tube of Hot Pink to arrive and use them up first.
Thanks again!!!I thought I might go for the skin79 vip gold super plus bb cream. Does this sound about right for me?

I think it is the right one for me CB:) as with most new products I try it takes me a few days to get used to it then I'm fine, I really don't want to spend any more money or time on bb creams, I needed one in the first place as I had a lot of work done on my face and my old make up routine wasn't working for me, I hope I'm sorted now, I'm glad I didn't waste anything as dd is very happy with the pink version:)
I'll update in a couple of days:)
I just wanted to add I've just had a look at the links to the pics I've put up, if I were reading this I might well of thought the middle bb cream (the hot pink) would be the right colour for me but in fact it comes out pink/grey which I don't really feel is represented in my pics, its probably just the way colours come out online but perhaps something to keep in mind when viewing colours for the various brands - happy bb hunting:)All power is from within and therefore under our control0 -

Thanks for this Hughjass (your name always make me smile!)
Um, oxidise? I've seen that term before on this thread. Can you tell what this means in terms of choosing a shade/blending etc?0 -

When it first comes out of the bottle, the cream will often be a sort of greyish colour, and when you first put it on you may find it has the grey-tone to it. But after five or ten minutes the shade will change and should match your skin tone a bit more. It will no doubt be a case of trial and error until you find one you like.
If you go on Youtube there is a good video showing swatches of many different creams, and she shows you when it first comes out as well as when it has dried. The video is done by 'frmheadtotoe' and it usually a featured video when searching for BB cream reviews.0 -

Thanks, now I understand. I did think the Holika stuff looked greyish when I first used it and thought "uh oh!" and I was a bit nervous about using it but it blends in beautifully. I assume this is the norm with BB creams? I've only used the one type.0
