I think it is more a case of covering and helping pigmented skin rather than whitening, but I could be wrong. Although to be honest I don't think my skin could get any whiter, it just makes me look less flawed not paler. For anyone with persil white skin like me, Skin 79 in Hot pink is a good colour match (Garner Light one is too dark really).
My husband was describing my colouring to a woman at an Airport make up counter and he said "think of a white wall, that's her!" Not flattering but it did get the right shade of concealer purchased!

...reading more....some of these creams contain Arbutin which is used to depigment (whiten) skin and improve age spots etc, . I will continue with my cream but maybe those of you with a slight tan or freckles should think twice.
I mix the cream on my left very aged spotted hand (I'm only 36 - damn you hereditary weird skin!) so if there is any change I'll let you guys know.

  • Has anyone tried the skin whitening BB creams?

My skin always used to be very pale, but I had a mask of pregnancy that left a lot of brown pigment patches on my face ( still there after 10 years) though my neck is still as white as a lily. I also have a few red acne scars so if I could find a BBcream that could safely fade my skin I would be over the moon.

My Holika Holika BB cream arrived this afternoon along with a sample of Premium Mineral Gold BB cream.

Tested both on my hands to start with and the holika holika is a bit darker than my skin -it's more peachy it seems-,has a velvety feel and look.Whereas the mineral gold doesn't look like it would blend, but once on blends perfectly to my pale skin and has more of a silky feel and look.

I've now put the Mineral Gold BB cream on my face and boy it really does match my pale skin perfectly, the colour is exactly the same on -I'm amazed with that!!!It also has an incredibly natural look, there is no sign of wearing make up at all yet as I was putting it on I could see it 'softening' the look of my face. It's worked on the dark circles us pale skinned girls are prone to, aswell.

Not convinced I could wear make up with it though because it looks so natural,it may look a lil odd on us paleys but will try later.

Only concern I have is that it is a whitening one,so will check the ingredients and what they do.I do have some tiny pale freckles that aren't really visible unless stood very close looking at them lol

Will let you know if make up can be carried off with it and when I've tried the Holika Holika properly!

Ps only took a week delivery, rather than the suggested 2,from bellogirl on ebay :)

Couldn't find the MUA BB cream in superdrug :( The MUA stand was poor, didn't even have the love hearts collection stuff in yet.
  • Not sure whether I will be trying anymore asian BB creams. I much prefer the Smashbox camera ready one. A lot more expensive, but in my opinion worth it.

Ive noticed a lot of Indian sellers on ebay favour skin whitening products, ie skin bleaching creams (that could be illegal). Be careful!
It's a sad fact that products such as "Fair and Lovely" have been top beauty buys in India for decades. You'll find it's a perception shared by any country that was colonised by European countries.

Yippee, got one at last! :T

The branch I went into in East London this afternoon had 2 stands, each double the size of the one I visited in Essex last weekend, and each nearly empty save for a couple of testers. I bought the last BB cream in dark, which is a similar colour to my usual Revlon Colorstay foundation (Rich Tan) - the proof will be tomorrow when I apply it properly, and have a thorough workout at the gym.

^^Usual foundation, MUA BB in dark is a similar shade. HTH.

Ok the verdict on MUA - it's just ok, nothing special but at just £3 I don't think I've lost much by trying it. The shade was a good match and it looked natural, but there's no SPF and I felt like I was using a lot so my usual Revlon and MAC products are much better value for money.

It is actually labelled as a primer - how many layers is a girl supposed to wear? So I'll stick to the usual make-up routine for the "professional" face, for "downtime" days I'm better off wearing my Boots Soltan SPF50 and MAC powder on top.

    HTH someone.

Yeah,I read the reviews on the smashbox one and that's used as a primer too, everybody who reviews wears foundation over the top of it (and products underneath) so it can't be great and not a money saver.

One thing I will say though,is the asian BB creams I've now tried don't need a moisturiser and certainly don't need foundation over the top or concealer. They do look incredibly natural so are best for daytime and muted make up I guess, just need to avoid the whitening ones really.

The more I look at myself, the more I dislike the MUA. I looked for the Holika Holika online and can see it on Amazon for $6 - the issue is the colour.

Then I saw this for the Holika Holika colour changing cream online - I think I'll stick with my usual foundation tbh! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
