  • Re losing weight - how much do you want to lose? If it's only a size or two I'd try them on but not buy yet obviously because it takes a lot of trying on to find the style you want in my experience. I suppose if it's more yoiur shape will change so much that it's hard to tell styles. No sure if this is much help!

Re the rings, I haven't decided yet but will mull it over. I had a look on argos just in case :) but they don't have anything with platinum and diamonds in it and I'm allergic to white gold (plus would it not rub off the engagement ring, which is platinum?). Worth a shot!

So considering the twist and wrap dresses as would end the bridesmaid dress stress, trying to match up for four of them!

  • I only have a stone to lose so I would just get smaller at waist, hips bum. You'd think it would be easier to lose with just a stone.

  • Hmm, I'd say it'd be ok trying them on then - even if you end up buying in a size smaller, surely the same shape would suit you even a stone lighter?

FAO anyone who has the twist and wrap dresses - just realised they are online only so would have to order then send back if they're not right. What are the sizes like? I know they come in small, medium, large rather than sizes and can't work out what my bridesmaids would need. Did you find them big or small made??

  • Another question... How would you feel as a bridesmaid if you were given a fake flower bouquet and the bride had real flowers?

I was bridesmaid for both my maids recently and had fresh flower bouquets off them but I'm looking at where I can make savings re our tight budget. I've seen nice fake readymade ones which are exactly what I would want but I am worried that my maids would be put out by having fake if I had real.

The saving would be about £100 just by doing this.

    What do you think?

  • I wouldn't mind - but then I'm considering a fake one for me, and I was actually going to skip the bouquets for the bridesmaids entirely before I considered fake (maybe giving them a single flower to hold so they have something in their hands). Just can't afford five fresh bouquets as that's so much money!

Surely they wouldn't mind you have a real one as you are the bride after all :)

Both my bridesmaids are 8-10 but someone mentioned to me that they run small so I ended up buying them in medium(12-16) to be on the safe size. They both fit perfect and tbh I have no idea how anyone size 12+ would fit in them  they are a 29" waist.

  • Sazzarella - thanks, I'm pretty convinced one bridesmaid will be a small (she's a size 6-8) and at least one will be medium so I ordered one small and one medium for them to try on (there are four bridesmaids in total) and will order the other two after that.

I tried on the small when they arrived today and it fit perfectly when it was on but as there's no zip or anything it was a struggle actually getting it on, it wouldn't fit on over my bum and just got it on over the shoulders :rotfl: so they definitely are on the small side.

How's everyone else's planning going? I think I'm going to order the wedding ring today, I decided to go for the diamond band rather than the one with sapphires as I didn't want it competing for attention with my engagement ring (thanks whoever pointed that out as it was what OH was secretly thinking and didn't want to say so he was relieved!).

  • I've done really well this week. I've sorted the suits, sending some back as I've now decided to un-invite my half brother because he is a (insert expletive of your choice) Just need shirts and cufflinks now.

I've sorted the flowers sort of, I called the local college floristry department they close the day before I get married so are really happy to do my flowers!

I've got the ribbon for my invites, the wax sealer is on the way from china (I lost my other one)

Finally decided on guestlist minus my half brother his gf and daughter.

Done a spreadsheet of guests including a rsvp number to go on the back of the RSVP's

Saturday hopefully sorting out the fireworks (I do pyrotechnics)

Next week my to do list is

Go to the registry office and pick up my marriage license (going anyway as my step sister gets married there on Monday)

Tuesday go and see my dads mate who is printing the invites.

Friday at the dentist to finally finish off my braces :)

That's all I can think of for now :)

I thought I was organised I have nothing on you! Not bothering with favours as I'm making sweetie trees instead. I just want these invitations to be done now! but I've been lazy about it lol :)
